  1. Its the establishment – MOH and cops – having a go, ahead of legalisation which will create opportunities for huge profits for corporates – the hemp industry is loving Chinese money to scale up to industrial production, when the legalising of hemp for human food is at the expense of tightening the probation over recreational cannabis use. Overseas the legalisation of Medical Cannabis ahead of legalising recreational cannabis creates a lag. That gives the drug corps a foot in the door while the rest of us are prosecuted. With this head start the drug corps claim patents over medical cannabis in collaboration with the privately dominated health industry, to steal the plant for pure profit. The corollary is that self-growing will be stamped on and recreational users penalised to keep alive the legacy of reefer madness. Lets see if the Coalition can buck this madness under pressure from the sane majority who want legalisation.

  2. One of the reasons we can’t have a proper debate about legalising cannabis in New Zealand is because anyone who publicly supports legalising it is putting a bulls eye on their back for the police to come and visit them. It’s like fighting with both hands tied behind your back.

  3. about what we expect to see here, doesnt matter what the people or even the ministers say the police in NZ are a law unto themselves, “above the law” is the correct saying.
Police state is what id call it, want dirty deeds done dirt cheep? call a cop, wanna spy on your neighbors? call a cop, wanna see those pesky 1080 protesters soiling your poison money framed? call a cop, wanna spy on your political opponents? call a cop.

    WWG1WGA like it or not

  4. Yes we are going backwards or perhaps the conservative right wing red neck old white man corner of the establishment, which obviously still has some influence in the system, has just has not advanced.

Even if Arik was not a film producer and supporter of the use of medicinal cannabis, being charged with this is absolutely ridiculous – one plant and one pipe to use for smoking cannabis….for goodness sake.

The cops of today still have the mindset of yesteryear – 1975, when the Misuse of Drugs Act came into being. Anecdotal evidence indicates that some cops also smoke and grow cannabis, so what is the problem?

  5. FFS.

Was there a sudden shortage of burglars caught on camera or something? Next the cops will be trawling hospices.
