Trump/Musk Fiasco vs Kamala not fronting for media vs Walz and the celebration of Civic Masculinity
Thanks to the Washington Consensus (that none of us consented to), our Government answers to the American Government so who wins the election in November matters to NZ and the planet.
The latest machinations and cultural trends all point to momentum towards Harris and the Democrats because there are enough intelligent Americans who are as horrified by the existential treat Trump poses them, us and the whole value of Democracy.
Trump/Musk Fiasco Interview:
The technological malfunction of Twitter to actually broadcast on time seemed to sum up Twitter under Musk, Trump as a manifestation of late Stage Capitalism and the entire flawed free speech lark Musk pimps.
The interview itself was little more than an ego wank between two blind men speaking in the dark.
If this is the future, we are so fucked.
Kamala not fronting for media:
The fear before Biden imploded was that Kamala becomes a wellness word salad flake when she goes off script and that undermined her credibility for the role.
Once Biden imploded, that fear was sidelined but the fact remains that she has not actually committed to any serious interview since she got elected.
Now this could be the Democrats reducing possibilities for fumbles when they are reaping so much enthusiasm, or it could be that the same blunders are apparent the moment she starts speaking.
Either way, what this strategy of no media interviews means is that the Debates become even more important than ever and possibly damaging if she falters.
Trump’s abuse at her weakness currently looks like harassment until you see her under perform, then it looks like he’s been right all along.
Equally though, if she smashes him in the debates, it’s over for him.
The debates will over shadow everything else.
Walz and the celebration of Civic Masculinity:
A new Poll has found voters believe Harris will be better than Trump on the Economy AND the odds have flipped on the betting markets overnight and most bookies are now paying $1.90 Kamala and $2 Trump!
No wonder Trump looks so bitter and angry!

This is an enormous turn of fortune despite Trump’s assassination attempt performance.
The culture war machismo that Trump has betted on is running up against the celebration of positive masculinity that Walz represents.

The vast majority of the memes circulating this week are in praise of Walz’s masculinity. Stereotypical masculinity, even. The kind conservatives perpetually worry that Democrats are trying to erase — the kind classically defined by such traits as stoicism, reliability, leadership and physical strength.
The Tim Walz of these memes is not, say, bingeing “Bridgerton” episodes, or dancing at a Taylor Swift concert, or buying you a Stanley. He is instead offering to snowblow your walkway, map out the best driving routes to the airport and wait in the car until he’s sure you got inside safe.
And yes, caveat: Women can snowblow walkways, and women can map driving routes. But people are not fanboying and fangirling over Walz as a warm and loving person. They are praising him as, specifically, a man. A man who served in the National Guard, who identified as a proud hunter, who once strongly supported the NRA and who coached a high school football team all the way to the state championships.

Trump wants to exploit wounds and grievance, Walz is promising encouragement while helping you to change your tyre.
The momentum is clearly with Harris, but it’s from a demographic who don’t turn up to vote, while Trump’s appeal to white men tightens.
The Better Angels of America may be winning here, and we should all be deeply grateful if they can beat Trump because the American Midnight his second term would generate would cast a terrible darkness across the globe.
My fear is an election that is won by tiny margin that neither side is prepared to accept.
Kamala, the person whom in the 2020 Dem party primaries finished forth in her own state. Given a tongue lashing by Tulsi Gabbard in said primaries also. Gave yet another word salad performance not too long ago. But never fear fellow Lefties, there’s a greater evil we are all up against than the trash that the political party meant to represent us has deemed worthy of our allegiance. The ‘lesser of two evils’ mantra keeps over delivering to the powerful donor class while giving everyone else the two fingered salute!
