Trump says China tariffs will drop ‘substantially – but it won’t be zero’
Donald Trump said during a White House news conference that high tariffs on goods from China will “come down substantially, but it won’t be zero”.
Trump’s remarks were in response to earlier comments on Tuesday by treasury secretary Scott Bessent, who said that the high tariffs were unsustainable and that he expects a “de-escalation” in the trade war between the world’s two largest economies.
…Trump and his cavalcade of morons set the tariffs as high as they did because they believed such an enormously ridiculous number would force Xi to the negotiation table without comprehending that Face is so important to China that they would welcome harshness rather than bend the knee.
Trump’s people are desperately reaching out to Xi and saying all he has to do is call first and Trump will immediately fold to desperately try to regain the economic agenda.
The problem with trying to force Xi to call first is:
- Xi will never phone Trump first because to do so would be weakness.
- Xi knows the people of China are really hard, where as the people of America are soft like marshmallows and that his people can withstand the economic pain where as Americans are whiney bitches.
- Xi knows Trump has dangerously miscalculated and is happy to watch him hang himself while China looks like a reliable and stable trading partner.
Trump has fucked up so bad and has placed so much political capital in Tariffs that he can not call Xi first, and the team around him didn’t appreciate Xi wouldn’t call.
It’s such a cluster fuck.
The damage Trump is doing will force him to consider some stupid over the top policy decision (like replacing the dollar for crypto) while the rest of the planet sell Treasury Bonds and get out of the dollar.
Trump is a fool and he has doomed the planet to an economic recession.

Trumpy’s trade war seems a good chance for the rest of the world to make new arrangements that do not require the input or dominance of the Yoo Ess Ayy.

Yep Chinese airlines are sending Boeing planes back and cancelling orders to the tune of 8380 planes over the next decade from what I have read. Boeing is in the shit.
