Suddenly, something is shifting. Last week, a stunning parliamentary intervention was delivered by the Tory backbencher Kit Malthouse. In a question to Hamish Falconer, Labour’s Middle East minister, he noted that “it’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with the slaughter in Gaza”, adding that “crimes come daily”. Given Britain was signatory to various conventions imposing a “positive obligation to act to prevent genocide” and other crimes, Malthouse asked what advice the government had taken as to the liability of the prime minister, the foreign secretary, Falconer himself and previous ministers “when the reckoning comes”.
The idea of a “reckoning” is clearly playing on the minds of western politicians. Perhaps it is even keeping them up at night. This week, Britain joined France and Canada in denouncing the suffering in Gaza as “intolerable”, threatening an unspecified “concrete” response if Israel’s current onslaught into the Gaza Strip continues. Speaking in the Commons today, the foreign secretary, David Lammy, announced the UK was suspending trade talks with Israel, summoning its ambassador to the UK and imposing sanctions on a few extremist settlers. “The world is judging. History will judge them,” he said, in reference to Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.

2 – Formally change the visa entry for Israeli’s to ensure war criminals aren’t holidaying here.
3 – Volunteer aid and help for Palestine’s re-building.
4 – Put money towards ‘Peace Camps’ held on Marae in NZ where selected Palestinian and Israeli youth leaders can come together on all paid scholarships for week long sessions of meeting and talking and planning together for the future because after hate as deep and wretched as is between Palestinians and Israelis, you desperately need the next generation to have space divorced of that poison if they are to have any hope of growing together in the future.
Zionist apologists have weaponised anti-semitism and use that allegation to shut down any righteous grievance of their ethnic cleansing war crime genocide.
I just don’t believe we can in good conscience continue to be silent any longer.

Suspending arms and munitions shipments to Israel might do something to alleviate the pace of the genocide, but “suspending trade talks” will do nothing at all. Zilch.

They don’t want to be charged with the offence of which they are clearly guilty: supporting, enabling and participating in genocide. This is nothing more than an exercise in self-exculpation.

Not just tolerate it, but actively facilitate and participate in it through arms shipments to Israel, deployment of military personnel to the Red Sea, provision of rest and recreation for Israeli troops, and diplomatic cover for the State of Israel.
