I would like to thank Amnesty International for the work that they do and maybe suggest that the people against prisons newsletter be given another title such as gentle forest or behind the memes or some other non-confrontational type words to allay the fears of the corrections’ algorithm. To be denied information is psychological torture both of the inmates and their families. This is why some people coming out of goal cannot face the world at large and reoffend so they can get back inside to familiar surroundings. I have heard many anecdotes of this kind, distressingly from younger people who have been abused in childhood and trapped in the criminal justice system whilst their abuser gets off scot free to continue abusing others. As a victim of abuse I can say that at the time it is impossible to identify and articulate what is happening, not only because of the chemical cocktail of the abuser’s choice but also by some insinuated threats slimily disguised as advice, sympathy and commonality delivered with a lifestyle or business opportunity.
