Dear ACT, NZF and National voters.
What did you think climate change would look like?
I appreciate for cultural reasons you can’t admit human pollution is causing the planet to super heat and push beyond environmental tipping points that once breached will cause enormous disruption to us as a species, but climate signage sure as Christ believes in you.
The argument that we can’t do anything is insane.
We can adapt!
I don’t believe for one millisecond that we can stop what’s coming, I don’t think anything short of AI decarbonisation at the atomic level could stop what is coming our way now.
This is the age of consequences.
According to Vote Prime Minister and Cabinet (which funds emergency management leadership and support):

$21.794 million decrease relating to funding transfers between financial years

$1.800 million decrease for Civil Defence Emergency Management training and administration
-
$1.285 million decrease for the Pacific Partnership Programme
-
$0.860 million decrease for establishment and expansion of the National Emergency Management Facility
That’s a *total of roughly $25.7 million less for these core items in 2025/26 than previously budgeted.
We need to fully fund the resilience required moving forward.
The tragic deaths from slips caused by extreme rain fall is the future.
It only gets worse and more extreme from this point onwards, that demands massive shifts in economic, political and social realities now.
We can’t ignore the reality in front of our eyes.

I acknowledge global warning is a thing but fail to see how it can be stopped by individuals stopping certain activities. Can modern man survive if we act like we did during covid .No travel, no catch up with friends or relatives ,shop by remote delivery the list is endless .
Thousands of years ago man lived in caves and drew on the walls and lived off the land .I imagine their climate footprint was very small but I imagine it was very dull . We’re do we stop doing thinks what do we change.
The glaring problem is that the Political Right don’t think things out – they are too busy with their ‘helter-skelter’ fast-track ‘look what we’re doing’ fixation as well as being totally focused on their wealthy donors/enablers! When National campaigned in 2023 they announced a “commitment to meet the country’s climate change targets & emissions budgets while simultaneously proposing change to how these budgets were funded and achieved”. They LIED to their voters. Instead in Dec 2024, they have DECREASED all their climate budgets for our country [!] – and you’re going to vote them in again?! Luxon s/be so embarrassed he should be hiding or fleeing the country. Again, where are our media on this??? He’s also a hypocrite using the Mt Maunganui tragedy for more ego opportunities and more verbal diarrhea. He is a mindless, vacant fake – a pretendy cardboard cut-out PM. We must all be able to see we can’t do any worse than him – he disgusts me to the core. If you are still voting for him and his party – you are the major problem.

People have died, and some of the bodies are still to be recovered. More houses are being evacuated in parts of the country due to slips. Many roads and bridges are still closed or at risk. A lot of people are in an emergency. Can we please take care in how we have conversations about all of this at the moment?
