It’s clear as day who pays their bills! Just hope enough NZs realise the bias nature of the press these days – worldwide. It is a scewed view they give to benefit their masters, not good at all for the rest of us. Journos you are failing to do your job properly. You ok with this?
I just got through looking at the raisins and currant fears known ez “The Nashun” with Liza Gibbons and Peddy Gear. It’s an hour I’ll never get back although I’ll revisit the exceptional Kim Hill interviews I missed at a later date.
Albeit, with the voice of a Hickey (in my married days this was the voice of someone prone to squeezing blackheads), and with another brown-haired-‘gal’ – presumably the voice of reason (or maybe just raisins and currant fears) along with some other right wing troll masquerading ez the fear and balanced. Liza Gibbons attempted to portray herself as a journalist.
I was astounded that Andrew L just didn’t say “Peddy – do you wan’t to hear my answer, or not?”
Let me give you some of Peddy’s wisdom:
“Lot’s of people……….” WHICH FUCKING PEOPLE?
“Lot’s of talk……” WHERE’S THIS TALK? IS IT ON THE GARNER/RICHARDSON “AM SHOW@ with ratings such as they are?
“Debacle” ….. IN WHOSE EYES IS THIS “DEBACLE”?
And worst of all … Peddy’s reference to the “mana enhancing”. JESUS STREWTH! As IF Peddy Gear could even relate to the concept.
There was so much more in that interview – lines like “How can you say that” etc. etc. etc.
Are these muppets still funded by the ‘Platinum Fund’?
@Liza Gibbons – I realise you might still have a mortgage to pay, and that prostitution is now an acceptable profession – but prostitution and journalism (as a member of that quaint old idea of a 4th Estate) don’t really mix that well
That was definitely not one of Gower’s better interviews. As I tweeted during the show; “Interviewer asks the questions; interviewee answers. It’s traditional”.
If this is the style of interviewing Little will be facing, he’ll need to get his media people (who are, themselves, ex-journos) to train him to provide short, snappy answers. Waffling on and being interrupted by The Patrick won’t work.
As they say ” Frank: “Absolutely!”
Pardon my confusion over Liza Gibbons – it’s Owen I think. My confusion due to Gibbons of ‘Entertainment Tonight’, ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘Telethon’ fame.
She probably deserves an apology, but since she’s all over the place (sometimes good, sometimes very bad), fuck it!.
As for Peddy – never very good. But that’s understandable because he’s Garner-trained and bromanced – right down to the Andrew Marr-like hand movements. Marr’s are natural however, whereas Peddy’s are contrived. (An Espiner, trained under the same conditions, Peddy will NEVER be – not that I’m particularly fond of Guyon)
Yup, Lisa Owen. She leaves Gower behind in the dust.
As for Patrick Gower; his performance of Dotcom and the Internet/Mana Party affair has forever undermined his reputation in my eyes: https://fmacskasy.wordpress.com/2014/06/07/patrick-gower-losing-his-rag-and-the-plot/
I also watched the Nation this morning, and was furious about the way Paddy Gower interrogated Andrew Little. While I was not happy with Andrew’s performance and some answers (or lack thereof), Paddy Gower clearly overstepped the line when asking questions, almost intimidating Andrew to concede he was frustrated and so forth.
This showed without any doubt where Gower’s own political leanings go, he is pro Nats, and while he does criticise the government at times, he seems to do so only to push them into the right direction, that is his “right” direction.
Paddy has NO time for Labour, and has shown this again and again, he is working overtime to ensure they will NOT win the election, full stop.
Perhaps someone can write a post on this appalling interview that they conducted and showed on The Nation, it needs to be pointed out to more people, and the MSM themselves, that they are being caught out on their damned bias.
I fully concur on both points, Mike. When a journo’s style of questioning leaves the viewer/listener frustrated and no wiser, then it has not been beneficial.
There are two degrees to interviewing; fawning and soft, which does not challenge the interviewee – or aggressive to the point where the interviewee is left with no opportunity to offer a complete statement (even if the statement is wishy-washy). If the answer isn’t satisfactory, the interviewer has an option for follow ups.
Gower failed. And Little needs to lift his game.
Did you also watch the news items on Labour’s conference and the interview with Andrew Little, Frank? They cut out heaps, and clearly misrepresented what Andrew said re student visas, and how Labour was going to reduce student visas for low quality courses. It was giving a totally wrong impression, as it was reported on out of context of what Andrew Little had said, it was so obvious, that Newshub are misrepresenting political matters and news.
