There are 20,000 types of mushrooms in NZ and among the edible ones are sneaky poisonous look-alikes just like humans. Don’t try and identify safe-for-dinners from looking at pics on the internet. There are such great differences. Did we evolve from one sort? The earth and our environment’s evolution is ancient while we can’t think beyond 1984, 1848..! It might explain some peculiarities within us!

Just thought I would get a run-down on the family history so:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_evolution
…Primates diverged from other mammals about 85 million years ago (mya), in the Late Cretaceous period, with their earliest fossils appearing over 55 mya, during the Paleocene.[10]
Primates produced successive clades leading to the ape superfamily, which gave rise to the hominid and the gibbon families; these diverged some 15–20 mya. African and Asian hominids (including orangutans) diverged about 14 mya.
Hominins (including the Australopithecine and Panina subtribes) parted from the Gorillini tribe between 8 and 9 mya; Australopithecine (including the extinct biped ancestors of humans) separated from the Pan genus (containing chimpanzees and bonobos) 4–7 mya.[11]
The Homo genus is evidenced by the appearance of H. habilis over 2 mya,[a] while anatomically modern humans emerged in Africa approximately 300,000 years ago.

Looks like it is a race to develop to our fullest, before we could blow ourselves up, exterminate (with or without daleks) each other, be washed into the sea or suffocated by slips. Which will win? Watch during the weak-end in the big practice for the finale!

…“Ferry Holdings is not a Government department and will be a lean organisation backed by deep expertise,” says Mr Mackenzie….
What does that tone indicate? More of the old tired formula that government-based is loaded with free loaders while private is dedicated monk-like to begging bowl simplicity, no-frills dedication – lean, mean and religiously transcendent of any of the wiles of the dissolute society. Heh?

    Interesting.
I know a bloke who has been installing batts away from his home area. But he and a mate have been refusing to go to work lately as there is a month’s pay owing. A number of people over the decades have been rorted by building some dreamer’s project and then finding that it wasn’t viable and they are the losers of worst effect.
