  1. Are immigrants unaware that NZ is not as good as it looks from a distance? Are they running here to escape themselves? The South African medical couple whose children are dead – why did they uplift themselves from a fairly good situation for a strange country?

These people from India – it seems that the shift has not been good for their son.

The funerals of Elsie and Herman were held on Wednesday morning. A relative in Mangaluru said, “Both Elsie and Herman hail from Mangaluru. Elsie’s father Edward Amanna was an Elder and Sunday school teacher at Shanthi Cathedral, Balmatta. When the Balmatta congregation was bifurcated into Mercara Hill and Gorigudde congregations, Amanna became an Elder at Mercara Hill Church, where our grandfather J D Soans, was the senior-most Elder. Hence, Amanna used to visit our grandfather often.”

“When they got married, Herman was a school administrator in Mumbai, while Elsie had a job with a leading private company. They attended Basel Mission Church at Vikhroli. They decided to emigrate to New Zealand in 2006 when their only son was quite young, hoping to give Sheal a better education and also get better employment themselves. Their son was good at studies,” the relative added. In New Zealand, Herman went on to work for a healthcare firm, while Elsie took up a job at Auckland University.

  2. In one state in India, the language and employment of locals is being pushed. I just caught this while looking at something else. I thought I’d show what other places are implementing.

…the ‘Kannada Language Comprehensive Development Bill’, which was passed by the Legislative Assembly on Thursday. Kumar said the aim of the Bill is to promote extensive use and propagation of Kannada.
The state’s Industrial Policy 2020-25 prescribes certain percentage of reservation for locals…

The new Bill stresses on implementation of Kannada in education, employment, policies, communication and technology and introduction of Kannada as one of the languages in higher, technical and professional courses. It provides reservation for those who study in Kannada medium schools in higher, technical and professional education and makes Kannada an essential language for seeking employment in government, local statutory and non-statutory bodies.

  3. I think that religious and sexual and gender identity matters need to be removed from NZ school curriculums and more, be denied to schools to attempt. They can be replaced by discussions of how to counter bullying and whether bullies should receive goal setting instructions so they can put their efforts into improving themselves. If and when they can and feel in charge of their life, able to shrug off failure and decide if they want to try again or do something else, they won’t have to harass people they perceive they can upset.

We have to stop these ideas of people changing because they are troubled about their self-image, their standing in the community,, changing sex for a start. If someone works on their good points towards a goal then they can identify their faulty attitudes themselves and learn how to guide themselves in better ways. That’s my idea for getting better conditions in school, and better internal feelings also.

This is what started me thinking.
