This highlights the deplorable double standards of NZ political media, and it sickens me that Metiria has had to twist in the wind for the courage of speaking up for those vulnerable NZers who are abused, damaged, harassed, frightened, hurt and broken by WINZ, Ministry for making Vulnerable Children, Corrections, Probations, Housing NZ and MSD staff every day.
Now is the time to join with us and make a real change in New Zealand politics. With Kelvin as Deputy, it gives us the opportunity to get Maori issues to the forefront and with Jacinda as Leader, we have a real chance to do something meaningful on poverty, housing, inequality, education and mental health.
Responding to Kelvin Davis’s less-than-friendly comments on the AM Show this morning (4/8/17) she could have pointed out that the first Labour Cabinet contained a whole swag of radical activists whose youthful union activities in the Red Feds regularly involved breaches of the law. She could have pointed out that Labour’s second prime minister, Peter Fraser, had been jailed for sedition during the First World War.
Thank God for that, Metiria is not falling on Mike Hosking’s or Patrick Gower’s sword and resigning, she has fallen on her pen and ruled herself out from a Ministerial role in the next Government.
His bitterness that despite all his stomping and screaming over Metiria amounted to the Greens going higher than they ever have before in the polls has created a Hosking even more bitter and venomous than usual.
The double standards of journalism on display here attacking Metiria for events 2 decades old when we have actual abuses of real political power sitting naked without any investigation by the Newshub says more about the kind of ethically bankrupt watchdogs running that news service than it does about Metiria.
The installation of Jacinda Adern as Labour Party leader is the last throw of the dice for Labour in terms of trying to achieve a greater resonance with voters by simply changing the leader.
Her courage for speaking up about how the purposely spiteful system forced her to cheat to feed her child 25 years ago has resonated with beneficiaries everywhere as the enormity of how cruel the MSD really is becomes public.
We have all waited for this report, that it’s been hidden is unbelievable. It doesn’t matter if Matthews left and wasn’t given a severance package, that is simply a by-product of the report, we all need to see it!
I don’t care if Jacinda has a child while being Prime Minister.
I care what she will do for the 41 000 homeless, the 305 000 kids in poverty, the 550 000 NZers enduring extreme hardship, the 1600 NZers who die from the cold each year, the 1500 unofficial deaths from suicide, the 10 000 in prison and the generations locked out of home ownership.
