It paints a bleak picture of the current NZ media landscape and highlights the real threat that the majority of news media is now in private hands meaning we are ripe for political manipulation and exploitation by those commercial interests that own those media.
Look at the utter bullshit most mainstream media outlets have spread creating the insinuation that National won the election, unless a new Government is prepared to invest in a far more critical media, these rich white wing male broadcasters and the cultural and economic hegemony that they endorse will continue to manipulate the voters of NZ.
All National have announced is 17 new right wing social experiments to try and fix the dysfunction they are exacerbating by using solutions that are the problem!
While I won’t review a show as sexist and backwards as The Bachelor, (no matter how much I want to rip to pieces the contestants and the shallow world of narcissism they inhabit), Survivor NZ has no such protection and it’s open season.
…the fact that none of this has been highlighted by the same media who are being paid by Youi for advertising is a gross dereliction of duty by a hard up mainstream media who are now too frightened to bite the hand that feeds it.
