  1. The fact ACC was said to have paid many dollars to each complainant may have been a factor . There was definately a hysteria around at the time .I took my 5 year old son to a camping ground in Chch for an adventure. It was spoiled by the camp manager coming to the hut and asking for proof he was my son and his mother knew where he was .. I knew of some male kindergarten teachers that decided to change profession due to fear . Most people I knew were amazed when the guilty verdict as the claims were so farcical. Peter’s crime was being gay .

    1. Acc paid out $10,000 a time and no police complaint had to be laid.
Acc paid out millions in the 1990’s during this period
Yes the only reason Peter was found guilty was because he was gay.

  2. L Hood’s work “A City Possessed” is the most detailed narrative of the events surrounding the case 1991-2001.

The issues of systemic bias alluded to by Martyn, contamination and reliability are also canvassed in a shorter paper by Harper, that I contributed to, circa 2005 after the Eichelbaum Inquiry.

The amount of work that has gone into rectifying this travesty was truly, truly massive; by Ellis’ legal teams, psychologists and scientists, many fine writers and journalists, families and friends of those caught up in the storm, members of the public writing to editors etc. Most will never be acknowledged, I salute them.
