  1. This does look as though Sepuloni is more concerned with protecting the institution of Oranga Tamariki than with protecting vulnerable New Zealand children.

    Pre-empting the Royal Commission further suggests that children are not this minister or this government’s priority. If they were, then Sepuloni and co would not be trying to abolish the independent Children’s Commissioner and replace it with yet another amorphous bunch of self-protective public servants. The effete Minister for Children, Kelvin the Silent, is betraying our most precious taonga if he won’t advocate on their behalf, but it’s not clear whether anybody in government cares about children and media should be exposing their slippery antics as a matter of urgency.
