  1. Murdoch’s fundamental political misjudgment – going back all the way to the dismissal of Whitlam in 1975 – is his mistaking the actual election results for evidence of his media empire’s ability to dictate national Australian politics.

What Murdoch is very good at, is recognising and amplifying political trends that are already pushing the electorate in one direction or the other – often for reasons that have nothing to do with News Ltd. In other words: he has been able to make the electoral shifts a little bigger than they would otherwise have been, but he cannot manufacture the shifts themselves.

His failure to grasp this basic truth about his own media influence, and the influence of the media generally, constitutes a fatal weakness in his plan to “Trumpize” Australia.

    1. Heh. And that Tony Abbott is the Judith Collins of Australian politics with Alan Jones in Tony’s bucket of dirt. Alan and Tony got on Malcolm Turnbulls case in a very open spat broadcasted on Australian national radio in the lead up to Turnbulls resignation and Turnbull would sight this interview as one of the main reasons why he resigned. And that Tony Abbott is and has been his whole career wrecking The Australian Liberal party and I’m like more power to them.

  2. I am deeply puzzled. I support an organisation called Getup.org. The following is an extract of a letter I sent to my local paper (Otago Daily Times).
” Last Saturday, in a by- election in the ‘safe” Liberal seat of Wentworth, Australia it appears that an independent has won, with a 20% swing. The loss was attributed to voter anger against the sacking of former Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull by his colleagues. What is not mentioned is the part played by a publicly funded lobby group (getup.org.au).

During the campaign, 7465 members donated enough funds to make over 50 large corflute posters; 60,000 How to vote cards, and meet all its costs; 613 volunteers made over 90,000 political phone calls. Its influence must have been enormous.”
So here we have a publically funded lobby group that claims to have been a major player in winning the by-election (and quoting figures in support), but the above blog (and my local paper) mention it not at all.
I smell a rat. Can someone please explain. I dont see how anyone in Wentworth can fail to see 50 gi-normous corflutes.

    1. If ever there was a sign that the thirst for National Sovereignty and Self Determination was real and powerful see what just happened in Brazil. Bolsonaro was stabbed, ran his campaign for the last month from his hospital bed and they still won a massive victory 55.7% to 44.3%.

Brexit, then a NYC Real Estate developer reality TV star becomes US President, a 32 year old Austrian, Kerryn Philps in Wentworth, a comedian in Italy and now a man who gets stabbed campaigning, from his hospital bed and becomes Brazilian President. People are desperate for change & to end establishment globalism.

The force of Democracy, individual Liberty, Capitalism, National Sovereignty & death of Corporate Globalism is unstoppable. If youre on the wrong side it will crush you financially & socially forever.
