Golriz Ghahraman’s supermarket incident: Foodstuffs’ security guard’s texts revealed
- Text messages between security worker and police revealed in new document release about Golriz Ghahraman shoplifting claim.
- Detective says police confirmation of investigation was to ‘name her without naming her’.
- Blogger who published image of Ghahraman appears to have identified leaker.
“You guys definitely want her ass booked,” a Foodstuffs’ security worker said to police about former MP Golriz Ghahraman. “We want her done too.”
Those comments were in text messages sent to police in the 10 days after Ghahraman was stopped and questioned at the Pak’nSave store in Royal Oak, Auckland.
That incident led to four months of inquiry by police, the leaking of the existence of its investigation, and the subsequent disclosure of a photograph by a Foodstuffs’ security guard of Ghahraman as she was being questioned.
The detail emerged in an Official Information Act response from police and gives an insight into police handling of an allegation which ultimately led to no charges being laid.
The games the cops, the security guards, the right wing hate blogger, toxic leprechaun Leo Molloy and the mass surveillance pimps all conspired to smear and hurt Golriz just for the pure spite of it.
How was justice served in this ugly witch-hunt?

The security person who behaved wrongly here was fired. Bring “ extra rude” to other staff because of one bad egg is unjustified and uncivilised.
Agree with sentiments, Sak’n’Slave use all sorts of illegal and questionable measures against customers.
I will stand my ground with any boofhead security, but probably not go out of my way to wind them up because they just trespass you with no right of appeal. This is a pain if they are the only market in town.
People do try and lessen their dependence on these bandits by growing veges, hunter gathering, and group bulk buying from certain outlets.
Having said all that, in reality I will still give security a burst if one of the fat gutted bastards annoys me. It was despicable how Golriz was treated.
Yeah nah on that one, Bomber. Being rude to somebody simply doing their job somewhere far far away from where this took place is low level behaviour similar to the behaviour of the security guard in question.
Agree though, the treatment of Golriz by the bad faith actors involved is toxic, ugly and unacceptable in any way. It is very disturbing that she has become a lightning rod for some of the worst kind of racist and misogynistic abuse that we have seen in this country. What is wrong with us?

Yeah that was a shitty dumbass security guard who was involved in this Goliz scandal ….but a security guard is a low paid, sometimes dangerous job for people who are generally on struggle street. That is a shitty job.
