  1. My impression is that when Luxon is espousing National policies, it comes from a crib sheet rather than the heart. Hence all the verbal stumbling.

He comes across as defensive in interviews, not because he has anything to defend but because his knee jerk reaction is defensive. Count how many times he answers a question by starting with “Now look…!”

  2. Please God, not Willis. One of the reasons society has taken a nose dive since the “liberation” of women is the extent to which they have been given positions of influence. Because men and women are intrinsically different (biologically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually) and, rather than being “equal” to men are complimentary, it follows that you’ll get a radically different outcome with them in leadership positions. And we sure got it. We did semi-OK under Clark because she barely any typically female characteristics, while Ardern was a disaster because she was “just like a women,” as Bob Dylan once sang.

    1. Are there specific flaws in Willis’ character, leadership style, or policies that you can point to, or is it simply that she’s a woman*? Isn’t that identity politics for social conservatives and as bad a leftist wokeness?

However men and women’s characteristics manifest at the population level, you cannot generalise to the individual. Willis could be at the far end of a bell curve distribution.

      ( *Whatever that is 😛 )

  3. I think Luxon is proving that it is absolute bullshit to say “he/she has run a business therefore they must be good for this job”

No matter who you support you would have to say he has regular walk backs on things he said just hours earlier

  4. National are dog tucker on all fronts… No vision …no critical thinking…. no morals and no likeable personalities .
They should be called ‘The Spurious Party’ !! At least that’s an authentic description!

  5. Baldrick was always a too soon promoted Grade A wanker–face it Natzos. Hawaii is not quite Te Puke when it comes down to it.

Bring back Soymun? Hoots can be his campaign manager…hahaha…

But really, the election is now wide open with Jacinda Ardern standing down, Chippy has done well so far in being a circuit breaker for the anguished and crazy. In league with Te Pāti Māori & Greens he will likely be PM of a Labour led Govt. in October.

  6. Well, if he could pull off that hat, he’d be dangerous. sorta does. just needs a violin case.

“Just remember Chrissi, who put you here. Capiche? God son.”

  7. I don’t think Nicola Willis would do much better than Chris Luxon in the leadership role at present, and I don’t think Chris Luxon has done much worse in interviews than John Key did when he was a reasonably new leader.

  8. Listening to Christopher Luxon on National Radio this morning I formed a view that he would not be able to work with David Seymour.
If National want to form the next government and have control of its policies it needs to win back Epsom. A lot of people will vote Labour simply because the thought of a Nat/Act government scares them.
National may have, by trying to be clever, made themselves unelectable; I know I will not vote for them again whilst there is a possibilty of a Nat/Act coalition.

    1. A lot of merit in what you say Peter. National wins back Epsom and even the Greens or Te Pati Māori would consider going with National.
In essence National shat in it’s own nest and created the bastard child that is Seymour.
