  1. The “New Zealand People’s Party” have already chosen a peculiar name, which will raise eyebrows in some voters. A “People’s Party” of mostly associated with a leftist kind of party, perhaps socialist, social democratic or even communist. That is unless, as it is evident in some other countries, it is a right leaning populist party, catering for a nationalistic kind of “people”.

If it is supposed to represent the interests of immigrants, then I would have chosen another name. The name they have chosen sounds like it is open to any person who may be interested in joining it, or supporting and voting for it.

What is their program, what policies do they stand for and do they want to push, what are their goals. A focus on law and order alone is hardly a comprehensive, sound basis to work on.

That makes it more like a citizen’s action group. And then again, what citizens do they want to cater for and who do they want to represent? I suppose we have to wait until they present something more.

    1. LOL. Exactly. A New Zealand People’s Party that comprises of people who are not New Zealand people. It’s fucking Orwellian.

      1. It is my understanding that the people floating NZPP are NZ Residents and/or NZ Citizens. So, in what way are they not “New Zealand people”? Oh, they are not white or Maori!!! Some of the responses I have been reading makes me believe NZPP has been launched at the right time and is needed. Will it be successful? Not sure, as we “not so New Zealand people” usually rely on Labour or Nats to represent us and it is likely to continue. I will watch NZPP’s policy pronouncements with interest to see if they can grab my vote.

    2. Have you noticed how right winger use socialist wording to make themselves more appealing to the public?

      1. “Hard working Kiwis” is often used, by Nats and so, I noticed. Sounding a bit like they “care” for the average worker here in NZ.

Do they call their own supporters “hard working”, those who enrich themselves and those who sit on their backsides while the average sales price of a home in Auckland (used also for valuation and later on rate charging purposes by local bodies)?

I wonder, I wonder, indeed, a choice of words, misleading somehow.

  2. If UMNO is the best example then I’d prob have to side with Winston on this. They would have to rank as one of the most corrupt parties in the history of mankind. The main reason they’ve never been unseated is bevause whenever a competitor gets close they are destroyed. Thats why Anwar Ibrahim is in prison for a second time on trumped up sodomy charges. And then there is 1MDB…

  3. What the hell are you talking about? Winston obviously means ethnic parties where the ethnicities in question are recent immigrants (which I would classify as primarily arriving within the last 50 years).
