All Pence had to do was tell the hard religious right of America that the wrapper may be a populist blue collar yob, but the steel hard military industrial complex core of Republicanism is in safe ultra religious hands.
If anything should ‘happen’ to Trump, the rise of Pence would be a terrible, terrible thing.
That’s the second win for Trump. I thought he won the first debate, not on content or intellect or ability, but because all he had to do was look slightly less than the baby eating acid spitting Lizard King Clinton’s Campaign has painted him out to be. By coming across as slightly Presidential, he shored up Republican and Independents.
Pence has done the same.
Expect Trump to come out with far more bluster on the issues that Bernie Sanders used.

Oh come on Martyn. You were wrong about the first debate and Trump has been in meltdown since as toss up states have started to move to the Democrats and polls are showing a big Clinton bounce. As for the VP debate, it’ll be forgotten by the weekend. The significance is that Pence will have won some backing for a future presidential run.

I was living in ChCh at the time of the Peter Ellis case. It was claimed that SRA was involved; many of us were deeply sceptical about its very existence, and it turned out we were right. Moral panic is what it was. I don’t doubt the same is true of Indiana.
