  1. “Maori have a right to be there” – Matthew, nobody has suggested otherwise. This sort of statement may be better not made – it can sound belligerent and perhaps fire folk up unnecessarily, at a time when we all very much need to be coming together.

    In the fullness of time the composition of the cabinet table was bound to change, and its diversity may wax and wain, but I doubt that Parliament is a work place wherein talent has been excluded on race or ethnic grounds and it would be a shame were anyone to think otherwise.
