  1. I’ve been arguing with Second Amendment gun nuts for years on various sites now. And I realise you’re preaching to the choir probably don’t give a fuck, but let’s call them what they are. They are military style small arms – rifles, not submachine guns. It doesn’t look like a submachine gun, it doesn’t work like a submachine gun, and it doesn’t kill like a submachine gun in that it does far more damage. It’s far more dangerous than a submachine gun. One of the things gun nuts will always do is say the equivalent of “You don’t know the difference between a magazine and a clip.” It’s their way of saying you look stupid. If you want to get people who may be wavering on your side, for Christ’s sake stop calling them submachine guns.

    1. Weren’t there some (probably not very permanently converted) semi-auto Stens under the MSSA regs? I don’t think most people who are concerned about the distinction between a semi-auto Sten ‘pistol calibre carbine’ and a fully automatic Sten ‘submachine gun’ or a semi-auto AR ‘modern sporting rifle’ or ‘military style semiautomatic’ and a fully automatic AR ‘select-fire rifle’ or ‘machinegun’ are likely to be convinced by using different language in regards guns they want to have fun with.

The simple fact is, Labour went after the wrong problem. Getting rid of MSSAs was not the solution. Cracking down on evil zionists like Brenton Tarrant who wanted to emulate Baruch Goldstein’s mosque massacre would have been a solution. Cracking down on those who spread hate and advocate for violence against innocent people in Palestine and elsewhere like the Israel Institute ‘of New Zealand’ would have been a solution.

      1. The Americans make all sorts of “carbines” firing pistol rounds, pretty much none of which make it here. Because they’re useless for medium and above game hunting, and really too ridiculous for small gain/pest control. And even in almost all the USA, fully automatic firearms are not legal – yet. Although course there are the extremist nutcases who want civilians to be able to have anything that is available to the Armed Forces. Tarrant should never have been able to access an AR 15 or whatever it was he used if the police had done their job properly and looked at his Facebook account. But even so, I feel a damn sight safer now that they are banned.
The regulations around them were stringent, particularly with regard to security. But that doesn’t necessarily stop nutcases from getting them.

        1. I mean, they obviously weren’t that stringent, factually speaking. People like Tarrant or Moses who espouse zionist views, who openly want to murder Muslims because they refuse to be slaves to zionists, shouldn’t be allowed to have their hands on any lethal weapons, semiautomatic or not.

      1. As I said, if you bothered to read what I wrote – you can call it what the fuck you like, and if you’re talking to your average townie/greenie you’ll be fine. If you just want to rant about it like Bradbury does you’ll be fine as well, but nobody will take the slightest bit of fucking notice among the people you should be trying to influence. Because you’ve instantly shown that you know absolutely fuck all about it. At least in their eyes. They already think – mostly – that anyone who is for gun control knows nothing about guns and you’ve just confirmed it – well done.

    2. Call them semi machine guns or sub automatics for all I care.
I also don’t care if it, as the yanks say, that ‘butt hurts’ those freaks who like to lie in bed with them.
      Just ban them.

  2. Any one that needs an automatic weapon to go hunting or what ever needs to admit they are a shit shot and needs to give it away .Very soon it will be duck shooting season and I will smile every time a duck flies down the river to the sound of automatic gun shots and continues on after 20 shots have been fired in its direction .There are the odd unlucky ones that get weighed down with so much shot that they can no longer fly .

  3. I spit at the feet of ACT for promoting guns on the anniversary of the mosque attacks.
