New Left think tank Esra launches Friday: Wellington
New left think tank Economic and Social Research Aotearoa (ESRA) will be launched this Friday 2 September at Victoria University, Wellington.

Keynote speaker will be UK writer Nick Srnicek, a lecturer at City University London, and co-author with Alex Williams of Inventing the Future (2016). Nick will discuss the significance of left think tanks and place the emergence of ERSA within an international context.
Project coordinator Sue Bradford, Victoria University lecturer Dylan Taylor and ESRA Chair Dr Warwick Tie will co-host the event, which will also include a brief panel discussion with several key sector leaders about the significance of ESRA for union and grassroots activist politics.
ESRA has been established by a project group of academics and activists to deepen informed debate and discourse on the left of New Zealand politics and to carry out research and analysis which will benefit unions, community based organisations and others working on a kaupapa of social, economic, ecological and Tiriti justice.
