It was embarrassing enough to watch National desperately flail around and announce that they would pull out of the UN immigration pact...
This is symbolic sophistry because the UN migration pact is completely voluntary, Bridges needs to deflect the perception National are little more than a front organisation for Chinese business fronts and looking tough against the UN does that.
…the political desperation that drove this for a dog whistle to distract from Bridges leadership wobbles is ugly enough, but the truth bomb Winston dropped just managed to make the whole thing even more manufactured…
Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters calls out National on UN’s Global Compact
Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters has criticised National for attacking a United Nations pact on migration, which he says the party initiated in 2016.
Outside the debating chamber Peters said National’s document, which was unanimously passed by resolution, gave rise to the current pact and was the primary document that started the whole process.
“It said it would work towards a paper completed in 2018 and that’s the paper now,” he said.
“The National Party is out there complaining about a process and document that they were the originators of and were going happily along with until they thought they would get some political advantage and I’m calling them out.”
…so National actually started the process to signing up to this UN migration pact which they are now demanding to pull out of?
It’s like everything Simon Bridges touch turns to shit. He’s become the anti-Midas.
My God… the Nats have become an absolute train wreck. If Simon was smart, he would split from the National party and form his own party. Perhaps he could call it the Slightly Less Toxic Party… at least he wouldn’t have to worry constantly about being stabbed in the back.
You talk about Simon being desperate but Winston (Mr 4% ) Peters will lose more of his depleted fan base if he votes to support unchecked immegration . Still he is happy to have drug dealers now and Shane will need someone to plant all his trees
They will use Maori to plant on Maori land which is not being utilised and or of no value.

“National’s Foreign Affairs Spokesman Todd McClay asked Peters if he was aware the agreement made no distinction between legal and illegal migration and called for restrictions on freedom of speech and the media.”
“Peters said he had studied the allegations, which had been made by some countries around the world and some people in a worldwide campaign, very carefully.
“Both those allegations are demonstrably false,” he told the House.”
Is he lying, does not know of any changed language or just politicking?
Or is he selling us out?

This, Belgian law professor Pierre d’Argent argues, will act like other UN compacts that have proceeded it will be used by lawyers to interpret the meaning of laws.
He said: “…lawyers use this pact as a reference tool to try to guide them…This has already occurred in international or national jurisdictions to refer to instruments that are not legally binding.”
“German law professor Matthias Herdegen came to a similar conclusion, as Breitbart London reported. Remarking that the UN compact occupied a “legal grey area”, it “gives the impression of [state] liability” and would raise the expectations of potential migrants in the third world, having the impact of potentially rising migration levels even if no laws actually changed.”
“Switzerland is now postponing a decision on signing the deal, and the nation’s parliament will debate the issue in the coming weeks.”
Which brings me to the reason behind my RED ALERT.
If Switzerland can do it why can’t we?
Why has there been no parliamentary debate or MSM coverage on a subject that quite obviously
will have such an enormous impact on the daily lives of every New Zealander?
For years to come, I might add. Forever?
We can hardly cope with migrant numbers now on our infrastructure let alone an Open Boarder.
