National wrong on Nurses, right on bonding Nurses
One of the fundamental problems of user pays education is that once we train drs, nurses and teachers, they leave overseas to pay that debt off and many never return, offering free education in exchange for bonding is the social contract the left forgot!
It is humiliating for Labour to be trumped by National like this.
Hilariously if we taxed the wealthy properly we could pay nurses, midwives teachers and Drs more AND we could give them their education for free!
Dr Shane Reti claimed 19000 nurses have left without actually reading the numbers right which showed a net gain of 4100 nurses. National are wrong about the numbers, but right about the policy!
Last week National announced the right to evict for landlords, this week they are bonding nurses and midwives which highlights the difficult task National have at stealing ACT party voters while trying to win over the middle voter.
With Australian citizenship in 2 years, NZ can’t compete with the wages of Australia (thanks to 30 years of a de-unionised work force) so we need to be innovative with bonding, better accomodation and better work conditions.

Policy is coming out thick and fast from the National Party but I do still see the national party as out of touch with ordinary New Zealanders.
Daniel Lang. Yes, but they sort of got it right on this one, considering that they’re the demographic insured and with private health schemes, and ergo in a much better position than many when their families’ wellness is at risk. But bonding persons who’ve paid for their own training and accrued big debts in doing so, is ethically dodgy.
Where are these nursing stats? As Reti and Verrall both seem not to be trusted.

This is a report by Verrall that says we are 4500 nurses short?
If this is so I struggle with this. As we were this short a year ago so how do we have 4500 when she has stated we have got 4100 more. That would mean either we only need 400 or we have lost a lot elsewhere?

So, what did National do Nathan for our nurses, teachers, housing, police, corrections, universities and all public health services didn’t they do more with less. Oh! but really, they did nothing, but they did manage to give the rich a tax cut and that equated to billions of dollars and zero budgets for all the above.
