  1. Eight million of taxpayer funding paid out by ACC in three years, yes, just three years, by ACC to injured Talley’s employees is a national disgrace. Talley’s bosses should hang their heads in shame, instead of suing away when the facts are exposed. It’s our money being dished out here, and our workers who we, the people, are helping, not the fishy fellows responsible, and if they think that this is okay, then they should say why.

  2. I spent seven years after I left Parliament working for the Meat Workers Union, primarily with AFFCO Talleys plants in Moerewa, Waikato: Horotiu, Te Puke: Rangiuru Wairoa, Feilding and Whanganui. I attended tangi of workers killed on the job, and represented workers injured – remember the worker with a hook in his head at Rangiuru? We were always in Court. We won all of the time, even when they decided to sue me for organising the campaign against yet another the lockout. The biggest crime was I pointed out to My Food Bag they were using Talleys vegetables, and I submitted to a select committee on their health & safety. That cost them $12k for the union. They are litigious and ridiculous and a blot on our reputation. Worst of all they give Shane Jones money.

    1. Darien. Perhaps the existence of ACC has enabled Talley’s to avoid taking personal, moral and financial responsibility for employees killed or maimed on the job.. The flip side of that of course, is that few workers have the resources to address this dreadful situation and that without ACC their lives could be ever so much worse, that’s if they’re still alive. Well done you, and Merry Christmas.
