MEDIAWATCH: Is NZME’s Canadian billionaire owner about to use the OneRoof crisis to tighten editorial control?

New Zealand’s largest media company is facing serious internal questions after the abrupt departure of three senior managers — yet one of its most prominent internal critics has fallen conspicuously silent. When NZME announced an independent workplace review tied to OneRoof and ZM, the absence of commentary from its own “Media Insider” raised a larger issue: who gets scrutinised when power sits inside the newsroom itself?
Why the silence from NZME’s Media Insider?
To paraphrase the great Blazing Saddles, Mongo no understand…

…now, I would have thought that the great Shayne Currie would have been ALL OVER the remarkable allegations occurring inside his very own NZME.
What’s his column called again?
Media Insider?
How come the total silence on the NZME allegations then Shayne?
How come the management put the email out to staff in the morning and it was left to poor Carolyne Meng-Yee to cover.
Where was the great Media Insider?
He’s very silent because the allegations involve NZME’s golden goose, One Roof…

NZME to conduct independent review after abrupt exits of three senior managers
NZME has launched an independent workplace review after three senior managers left the media company abruptly.
The company’s chairman Steven Joyce said the review would examine events leading up to management departures from OneRoof and ZM, which are owned by Herald publisher NZME.
The board decided “across late December/January” to commission the review, he said.
“The wellbeing of our people is an absolute priority for the board and senior management of NZME and we are committed to providing a safe, supportive work environment,” Joyce said in a statement to the Herald.
“In light of three recent management departures from two of NZME’s business units, the board has decided it would be beneficial to conduct an independent review into events leading up to those departures.

…Now.
What Jim Grenon’s ownership means for NZME’s editorial future
NZME’s new socially conservative Canadian billionaire with a strong culture-war media background, Jim Grenon who helped found the culture war hate Blog The Centrist, comes from a very conservative, religious Canadian family. His dictates on NZME culture are already very puritanical and I wonder if he will use this investigation as a means to purge NZME.
Is this review about workplace safety — or editorial control?
Is alt-right culture war puritanical Canadian billionaire about to go Sam Neill Peaky Blinders on the One Roof Golden Goose?
It is no secret that Grenon wants full editorial control of NZME so he can turn it into Fox News in jandals with a very culture war focused agenda, will he use this as his excuse?
If media watchdogs won’t scrutinise power when it sits inside their own building, who exactly is the Media Insider for?

You’d think if it were Russian or Chinese billionaires vying at a controlling stake of NZ state media, the public would be up in arms with foreign interferrence allegations but not with not with a far right religious nut who wants to turn NZ into his personal Gloriavale.
