National’s police spokesman says the party may outlaw gang facial tattoos if its planned ban on gang patches does not work.
Mark Mitchell, expected to be the next police minister, told RNZ Checkpoint that gang members with such tattoos will be made to apply foundation when they wake up in the morning or face arrest.
The party is also promising to allow police to search suspected gang members, their vehicles and properties without warrants, and issue dispersal notices banning gang members from talking to one another.

That’s what Mark is actually arguing for. Faces that don’t frighten white people.
The obscene level of over reach National want to implement by banning gang patches in public sets an immediate conflict point that will cause more violence than suppress.
National have done nothing other than wind up voters fears of crime and it has very obvious race baiting insinuations in the messaging…

It wasn’t taxpayer money, it was the proceeds of crime that was paying for drug rehabilitation programmes because that is how you move the community Gangs like Black Power and Mongrel Mob away from crime.
This is the exact type of programmes you want to run yet National use it to dog whistle their redneck voters.
Hand on heart I don’t think National MPs could tell you what is the difference between the Mongrel Mob, Mongols, Head Hunters, Black Power or Comancheros and that’s deeply concerning because they all have completely different reasons for existence and attempting to tackle the most glaringly apparent elements of gangs with laws that breach human rights will only radicalize those communities.
The problem we have right now with gangs is the unprecedented forced deportation of the 501 criminal elements from Australia who have unleashed a tsunami of violent gang take overs because they are prepared to use a level of violence and sophistication far in advance of the domestic gangs.
These 501 syndicates are using their contacts with South American Cartels to import a purer, cheaper Meth and it is this turf war for the Meth trade that is shaping the current violence.
Police gaining powers to harass and intimidate the poorest members of this crime pyramid with powers that breach human rights will only radicalise that community.
When you start abusing the power of the State in the manner we are all cheering for against the Gangs in Optoki, you risk radicalising criminals and that is the last thing you want to do in any country!
Look at how the radicalisation of the Parliament Lawn Protestors has metastasized into the dangerous cocktail of resentment that has made politics so bitter.
Imagine putting those pressures on violent organised criminals.
Of course organised crime needs to be challenged at all times by the Police, but what we are doing here is implementing bumper sticker policy that will only cause counter productive outcomes as opposed to smarter Policing.
The next Police Minister is advising make up on gang faces FFS.

While his suggestion is beyond pale, there is something thought provoking about it. Should a group that takes its followers against the values of a law abiding society, be allowed to openly advertise its wares?

It doesn’t matter where the money comes from, it still shouldn’t go to the Gangs. You think a programme like that is going to solve the Gang problem?. It certainly will not stop the Gangs peddling meth.
How dumb are you? Do you even know the difference between the gangs? Or are they all lumpen scum to you? Drug rehab and intervention is used in Queensland, What the program does is it puts people back into the community in a connected and meaningful manor. This is what the program was doing in NZ, you know human connection and making people feel worth for who they are. Rather than for the money they have, the violence they can do, or the power they have from the sale of drugs.
At it’s core is the fact that treating drug addiction like the health issue it is, is the only answer. There is no other solution. We have tried stupid reactionary war on drugs for 50 years almost, and it has only enabled, empowered, and emboldened more drugs, more gangs, and more idiots.
Do you really think that by the Government making unlimited finance to this programme that eventually Gangs will disappear. Come on.
It’s one part of dealing with drugs and gangs. I’m not as binary as you to think it’s not the only part. The only tina is the war on drugs is a failure, and that drugs needed to be treated as a health issue. But that won’t get rid of the gangs either, nothing will as long as we accept this fubar economic model.
So you would rather spend $6 million that does come from taxpayers to keep them in prison instead of spending $2.75 million from the proceeds of crime to develop sustainable employment for them? Then you imply that Martyn is stupid, look in a mirror is about the best advice you need.
