  1. “Allowing Māori Capitalism to co-fund and co-own essential investment would be a step towards realising the promise of the Treaty while protecting NZ from foreign investment.”
Pakeha cannot rely on Maori to save them from the consequences of two centuries of colonialist rule and I doubt that Maori could save the colonialist system in this way even if they had a will to do so. While Maori may have managed their resources with greater prudence than colonial capitalism, as a proportion of the population and the economy they still only sit around the 20% mark.
Pakeha need to take responsibility themselves. They can follow the example of Maori, but they must also do their share of the heavy lifting.

  2. Take the example of testing and vacination in the pandemic .Most of the front line work was done by Maori in my area. When we went for testing were were met by maori person who took details and did the testing .When the vaccine arrived my GP refferd me to the local Maori health provider who rang me when the jabs were available and organised a time to get it done .Later they swung into action with mobile clinics in every area of the king country and servicing all comers with care.
Maybe they should join up and work with the current health system and get the front line working as it should .Oh hang on they were but ,have been sidelined by the colonial government again as they were early last century.

  3. A bit rich. Maori capitalism is indeed in the game – and tax concessions may well be a legitimate concern – and those high up in the pecking order have indeed benefited from juicy salaries, but I’d be surprised if some of the dividends don’t trickle down to ordinary folk who have iwi affiliation, if only education scholarships and business grants. Thats what you’ve got to remember’ not all Maori but those who whakapapa to the iwi – and some iwi are doing better than others in this space, a few spectacularly so.

Then there’s all the jobs – must be hundreds of businesss under iwi control providing employment opportunities otherwise not around – manuka honey and tourism two areas that come to mind.
