  1. This is a very good initiative for the benefit of many young New Zealanders who may not otherwise have a lasting interest in furthering their education at a tertiary level.

    The flow-on effects to the New Zealand economy at large, are immense.

    Additionally the enthusiasm and confidence of the participants will grow and as well as skilled people they will become upright and independent citizens.

  2. It is a great idea. The less we need to rely on overseas workers the better. It’s called autonomy.

    There will be some employers who rort these types of initiatives – but I would like to believe that they are in the vast minority. Anyway – this system doesn’t just benefit them – it increases the skill-base of locals which has to be a good thing.
