I appreciate everyone is very busy with the possibility that the end of the world is approaching if Trump wins next month, but could we just quickly rewind the week and remind everyone that Stephen Stone was released after spending 25 years behind bars for a crime that increasingly looks like it was based on nothing more than the NZ Police threatening 4 witnesses into making false statements on which 4 people were sent to prison…
A man who has spent 25 years in prison for the murder of west Auckland tyre-fitter Deane Fuller-Sandys has been granted bail.
Stephen Stone was imprisoned in 1999 for the murder, as well as the rape and murder of Leah Stephens.
Earlier this month, Stone’s conviction was quashed by the Court of Appeal, alongside those of Gail Maney, Colin Maney and Mark Henriksen.
The court ordered a retrial for Stone.
…It is very difficult to read the Deane Fuller-Sandys and Leah Stephens murder case and not have serious concerns over the manner the NZ Police gained false statements to effectively frame 4 people.
Every single time the NZ cops get busted falsifying statements and framing people they promise they have changed procedures and that it won’t happen again, yet we see it happening again and again and again.
As this Government builds a super prison and changes bail laws and 3 strikes powers to include 10 000 new prisoners held on low level crimes, how many innocent people are we ramming into an underfunded Justice system that has little capacity admitting miscarriages of justice.
The value of it being better 9 guilty walk free rather than 1 innocent imprisoned has become better 9 innocent people are imprisoned than 1 guilty person walks free.
That’s not a justice system, that’s a chilling Prison Industrial Complex.

That’s exactly what the relaying of charges is designed to do: suggest just such a thing to the simple minded.
All the more reason why we should never have the death penalty in NZ as our Police are fucken useless, and our justice system is rubbish.
Most police are hard working and care for society but as in all groups there are bad apples.
It is hard for them to operate when they have MPs who call them terrorists. The reason Labour was soft on gangs was because the majority come from the Maori population.

The bad apple cops are costing us millions now and is the state going to give compensation to the state sanctioned abuse of children and others in welfare homes and institutions. Now let see if they are accountable for their wrong doings as they are holding others to account.
And if we apply three strikes to our police they would have been struck out by now. And the police aren’t the only ones that are hardworking in this country, most of us are.
Too right about no death penalty. Let’s change to advanced citizen-monitored euthanasia systems for the good people to die when they want to, with honours, kisses, tears, friendly pats and hand wringings, old friends meeting, catching up with distant cousins, laughter over old humorous incidents. Dying rituals will abound, and it will be fun.
And the bad people, if they are whether in prison or not, are implicitly saddled with a life sentence! Can’t trust police after all the tv series-ready stuff about odd systems and ignored evidence etc.
Meanwhile the geniuses of our media establishment are reporting that these same clowns prevented a precrime murder yesterday. Very credible!
