  1. Yes, and the huge increase in prison numbers will hurt us cause eventually most of these people have to be released and reintegrate back into their communities. This COC government is divisive and, in my view is not ruling in the best interest of most New Zealanders and I believe this is the worst government NZ has ever had.

  2. “They have heaped cruel, unfair sanctions within a framework that is designed to trip people up and disqualify them, not find them jobs!”

Today on RadioNZ there was a discussion about who had been the worst/best finance ministers? Of course it was agreed top of the worst list – Muldoon. I guess that would be because if Muldoon couldn’t find a job for a worker he would create one which is anathema to today’s neo-liberalists.

He also developed oil/gas energy, farm forests, venison export industries. What industrial development can National take credit for in recent history. This lot tell us loudly they are getting AWS data farms except the projected energy demand for data farms (plus adjustment to known gas reserves) has spiked the energy price for consumers and industry. In fact, AWS is not going ahead with their data farms. https://newsroom.co.nz/2025/09/02/amazon-aborts-construction-of-west-auckland-data-centre/

Would Muldoon have allowed a rigged electricity market to close forest mills and other industrial plants?
