  1. GST is the key. There must be advantage in getting GST from shoppers. Prices go up and GST totals too. Those who can’t afford to buy food provide no GST. That’s their fault.

Everything I do seems to have 15% GST on it. I have had a grand new money-raising- political-idea. There will be a device on toilet doors and you will have to put your card in and pay, to go to your own toilet. Now that’s a way of getting money out of people that hitherto the gummint hasn’t been able to squeeze.

If they can’t get much food and eat, there will be a saving on toilet visits for them, so in the long run they will be leaner and meaner and more hyped up to get out and be useful and get paid and then pay GST which is the circular economy, their point of living according to the PTB’s economics that they learned at school and university.

  2. Also for money-raising by government and making the poor pull their weight on this matter, I suggest a weighted soap dish that measures and transmits detail if the soap is picked up and probably used after using the toilet. Of course the water bill will have to be paid for, renters now are expected to pay for their own water! And that will help prevent that sicker society. It won’t happen if everyone does what they should for Wealth, Health And Safety!

  3. And what awful, offal, in our our school children!s lunches, can it get any better of course, they have found a new targeted blame, the shrinking world economy. Here that A.C.T. Farmer, spokes person say about the latest food scare about our poultry consumption, and not the consumption, but the birds they selling us, !Check it out!, as ignorant as reputed Coats, said during the great depression, as not all, but some farmers, droving their SHEEP off bluffs, and the public outrage, as the Farmers cried, if i can!t sell why should we give it away. And Coats, reputed to say, if their hungry let them eat grass.

  4. Love it, the hard right trolls got nothing but dirty politics when caught out over the worsening cost of living crisis. You lot are so unoriginal.

    1. FGS don’t introduce Trump and the USA into our NZ discussions if you are going to come here. WOT (Waste of Time).

  5. The business I work for has been hemorrhaging customers since last April when National culled the public service. That has since spread to Auckland so it is now turning into a full blown recession. They don’t seem to understand that Austerity shrinks the whole economy. Many of the businesses saved by the Covid subsidy have now gone under. Electricity prices, squarely the responsibility of National have closed some of our last big industries. Public services that were starting to deliver due to proper funding under Labour, have now been axed. The joke is that with us having one of the lowest debt to GDP ratios in the OECD, they could have reaped Kudos for investing in public services. Homeless and mentally ill back on the streets in large numbers just like under Key. But then they have doubled down on the failed policies that got them voted out in 2017. Don’t let graduates of English literature run an economy.

This man deserves a knighthood. Others have received one for merely opening the door to a VIP skilled in magical finance.

    2. 1000% Alan, brilliant post on our country’s economy and how the right run down our public service at the detriment to our people.

  6. Oh the coalition of growth growth and more growth .
    GROWING DAILY UNEMPLOYMENT
    GROWING UNDER EMPLOYMENT
    GROWING POVERTY FOR ALL
    FAILING HEALTH CARE
    FAILED FERRY DELIVERY
OH the list goes on but the best is the massive Growth in Food prices .
I wonder if Willis now realizes NO government of any colour can control food or any type of inflation .Inflation is the end result of greed .

  7. Next time you are out and about take a look at the people around you .I was at a large mall the other day with the grand kids ,the place was like a funeral .Everyone I watched was looking down at the ground and had a souless look about them .Even the kids on school holidays were not displaying the usual spark .Very rear to see people standing around having a chat these days

  8. Like unemployment this CoC and Luxon, Willis et al are responsible for rampant inflation, forcing thousands to Australia where you can buy NZ butter cheaper than the country it’s made in.

New Zealand-made butter is generally more expensive in New Zealand than in Australia, even taking into account exchange rates and GST. For example, Westgold butter is sold at a lower price in Australian Woolworths stores than in New Zealand Woolworths stores. This is despite the cost of shipping and the fact that Australian prices don’t include GST.
