It started when heroes disgorged from a helicopter wearing bandanas and carrying automatic weapons on a raid which increasingly seems to have been a favour for the FBI.

These intrepid police warriors terrorised a man and his wife and children in a raid most Kiwis rejected as excessive at the least and at worst, an obscene over-reaction by a police force increasingly demonstrating contempt for the laws which govern their conduct.

The extent to which the conduct of over-all commander assistant commissioner Bugs Burgess (formerly a Red Squad cop under my command), was acting in the best interests of New Zealand or doing a favour for friends he made at the FBI in America, is a matter of conjecture in my view.

ENTER HELEN WINKLEMANN

 I revert to my 5 July article in the Truth when I was there a columnist: 

What astonished me was to read the alarming police response to Chief High Court Judge Helen Winklemann’s determination that she found the police had acted unlawfully in seizing Dotcom’s computer gear, that they (our police) would “take advice from the American FBI” about what to do.  To which our Chief Judge suggested that the police might have regard to NZ law as priority over what the FBI thought.

Helen Winklemann is my pin-up girl of the decade and she remains so, because she alone stood up to the police and IPCA machine which tramples on our rights and she alone is now calling to the police to account.

Bugs of course, is now – gone – early retirement?   

Labour government takes over from John Key’s empire and suddenly, police commissioners of the ‘old broom ‘– like Mike bush who applauded Bruce Hutton at his wake, are gone.    

Note: Hutton had been identified by the Royal Commission of Enquiry into the Arthur Allan Thomas convictions for murdering Jeannette and Harvey Crew, as the culprit who planted a cartridge case in the strip of grass at the murder scene, to ensure he got an arrest.  That was the same strip of grass that I, as a young detective had previously searched and found – no cartridge.

Andrew Coster is appointed as police commissioner.   

Within months if not immediately, a changed attitude of policing, was tangible and remains so.  Armed police gangs disbanded.  The number of ‘suspects’ being shot, has dwindled dramatically.    In my view, the best appointment Jacinda’s team made during their first term

But the fate of DOT COM lies not at the feet of Commissioner Coster.

More recently, Bomber produced a master piece of preserving abuse of process. 

The question is:  How will the top table view these events?

    What’s he do now?
    He has a law degree I’m told. Maybe he will take up civil rights cases? After all, he seems to have some experience in the field of, ‘our rights’.
    Perhaps a Private investigator like many ex cops?
    Or maybe he does a bit on the side for the FBI?

  2. Good article, Mr Meurant. It is good to see some of your insider knowledge being used as it should be , – to expose corrupt practice. I well remember that Rambo operation and along with many other Kiwi’s were mortified at this blatant open demonstration of Americana style police tactics.

    That is not how we do things here

    First off, and importantly was the FACT that the warrant used to interfere with Kim Dotcom and his family was ILLEGAL. That’s only the beginning as the knock on affect of this ILLEGAL warrant just didn’t stop.

    Not only was this whole sordid affair conducted more like some South American Junta’s death squads than something we see in NZ, – it contravened our laws in favour of a foreign nation. We are supposed to be a SOVERIEGN NATION with our OWN laws. Not, SO it seems , according to John Key, however.

    And NOT, it seems according to the Hollywood Motion Picture Association who threatened Barak Obama with pulling their donations to get him elected unless he passed their copyright laws.

    Laws that have no jurisdiction WHATSOEVER in New Zealand.

    However, greed is apparently good and obligingly John Key not only changed the actors (and other unions) union laws overnight by association to ensure The Hobbit would be filmed on site here and not elsewhere, and in doing so showed his utter contempt for NZ workers and also the nation as whole,… he then sets about manipulating time and dates , and indeed ‘liaison’s’ with a foreign country to twist our own laws to THIER BENEFIT.

    Effectively that could fall into a legal definition of treason.

    And under that ILLEGAL warrant, the charge shifted from the original COPYRIGHT LAWS of a foreign country when the Americans found that the grounds for extradition didn’t exist and could not be enforced here to other spurries charges dreamt up in a back FBI room.

    How many times can a man be charged after the original charge fails before it becomes legal malfeasance and vindictiveness ? Is THIS what we do here in NZ?

    NOW,… back to that original ILLEGAL warrant that was issued…

    Well first off besides that, – ( 1 ) Dotcom and his family were traumatized with his wife being pregnant due to the over the top’ bully boy’ tactics used..

    (2) The second thing was they were all detained and separated.

    (2) Dotcom was denied even basic human rights, – ie : he was denied a phone call to his lawyer.

    (3) Due to that ILLEGAL warrant which secured him in their cloistered prison cell, his assets and finances were frozen , – to PREVENT him affording legal representation and to buy time for the NZ Police and FBI to spirit him quietly out of this country. Illegally.

    Was Dotcom armed?

    Was there any reason at all to have so many black clad Rambos in full tactical gear abseiling down on ropes out of helicopters with semi automatics and police dogs to arrest him and his small family? Really ?

    When a lone constable and sergeant with a squad car would have sufficed?

    REALLY?

    How much did that operation cost?

    Was it just like John Keys similar motive for running a popularity contest in wanting to change the flag as a diversion and throwing away another $26000,000 in the process ? How much did the Dotcom operation cost in total?

    All for the sake of one man : John Key.

    But the sheer gall and malfeasance of John Key doesn’t stop there,…

    * And there was also an excellent Campbell Live episode which clearly implicated John Key with the Hollywood Motion Picture association, the FBI etc and the liaisons that took place with our then Minister of Immigration to entrap Dotcom to have him extradited at the FBI’s behest. And in doing so, breaching our own laws to favour American ones. I would thank someone to post that link to that episode because it blows apart any doubt that the arrest of Kim Dotcom was a contrived and manipulated event to deny a permanent resident of this country their basic human rights.

    All illegal.

    All breaking our sovereignty.

    All riding roughshod over human rights in our country.

    All engineered in America with a fawning, willing stooge here in NZ called John Key who happened to be our…. PM. ???
