  1. The view put out was that schools were letting NZ down, teachers were failing, teachers were failing children and our system was crap.

Having planted, continually watered, cultivated and nourished that garden the next step was then to incrementally praise things which were happening and then take credit for what were claimed as successes.
Successes which bear little intellectual critquing.

Our world class schooling was suddenly useless under Tolley and Parata and under Parata we will soon be “world class” again. Even yesterday she was spouting of how brilliantly our kids were doing.

The worst result of the puncturing of the education and learning tyre is the disestablished teacher fraternity. It has been so consumed by coming to terms with the new seats and upholstery, the impending threats to run on new fuel, the constant criticism fostered and festering through the sinister Ministers, the eyes have been off the important stuff. The vehicle is now on the blocks.

The wheels, the nuts, the jacks, the spanners are only to be given to those who play the game the Parata way. And with her gone, even more the English, Joyce and Seymour way.

She’ll probably get her own dame hood for services to education.
