  1. It’s a pity that Shane Reti had to go in a way, because although he was obviously overwhelmed by the job, his heart was in the right place – he was a doctor after all who wanted to do the best for patients.
    I suspect he found that he wasn’t going to be able to, given the government’s restrictions on spending.
    I have a friend who is in hospital now waiting to die essentially. Went to visit him the other day – he’s in a room with maybe five or six other people, it’s noisy, it lacks privacy obviously, and while the people around him are doing their best, they obviously haven’t got much to work with. But it’s gonna need a whole lot more than just devolution.
