  1. Great article Ian.

The advisory group was likely victim of cost cutting which would have included at hefty fixed day rate per individual, travel, accommodation, admin support plus other hourly rates and nothing budgeted.

Might have been cheaper to create a small in-house team to work on this issue, and use experts as needed.

  2. This government is steering NZ down the slavery road as fast as we can go .Thats why they have all those massive doners who want cheap labour to exploit and another reason they bleat about wage rises .They go on about productivity ,try lowering wages and then see what low productivity looks like.

  3. I’m waiting for @Castro to show up bleating about how it’s all migrants exploiting migrants.
‘The reality is’ the likes Trevelyans and Seekas are still not doing enough, AND a number of labour hire companies.
INZ and the Labour Inspectorate have never really taken the problem seriously – especially since it became under the aegis of MBIE. A buggers muddle that’s proven to be Jack of all trades, Master of None. But it’s a convenient buggers muddle for politicians in many ways even though it fucks up everything it touches. And it’s NOT its public servants at the coalface, rather managerialist micro-managers and its organisational structure.

When you get the likes of the Indian High Commission warning nurses not to come, things are getting serious. It’s not just nurses unfortunately.
Brooke Van Velden ought to be ashamed of herself – but she won’t be of course. Another nasty piece of work with a high opinion of herself and her abilities.

    1. Every member of the ACT party seems to fit your description in the last 2 sentences.
They give Aotearoa/NZ and us, a bad name, as evidenced by the Indian High Commission advice to nurses.
They are a stain on our reputation in more ways than one.

Between that and our credibility being stretched as good people to do deals with for ferry building and opening pulp and paper factories, our international standing is going down the tubes.

Jacinda, whatever you may think of her achievements here, enhanced our reputation.
This Coalition of Chaos makes us look as corrupt and useless as everyone else.

Our PM can’t even make one bold decision to save us from months of dangerous interference from a known foreign threat. What a useless man!

  4. If a slave is someone who, in return for being clothed, housed and fed, is bound to otherwise work without payment, then what is a waged man who after paying his clothing, housing and food costs has nothing left?

  5. Slavery is a right wing policy. National promote low wage economies.
Multiple economists have stated National is making our economies worse. Chrisp ” Benson and Hedges” Bishop arrogantly believes Nicola ” not a fucking clue” Willis knows more than economists. If Bishop even had one brain cell it would be lonely.
Their arrogance has fucked our country.
