We have just held a Royal Inquiry into abuse by the State that saw 250 000 children hurt and abused, WHY would we now allow harsher military boot camps to be able to censor the failure rate with THAT history?

Labour pushes for Potaka to release homelessness briefing amid concerns over rising numbers
Labour is demanding the release of a government briefing on homelessness, warning it may confirm that record-level homelessnesshas worsened under the National-led coalition’s watch.
“Everyone is saying that homelessness is going up at unprecedented levels,” Labour’s housing spokesperson Kieran McAnulty said. “Given that he [Associate Housing Minister Tama Potaka] is the only one – alongside the prime minister and the minister of housing – that is denying homelessness is going up, I’m not surprised he’s pretty reluctant to release the report.”
Potaka received the latest homelessness insights report from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) last month, part of a regular six-monthly series monitoring the effects of government housing policy to reduce the number of people living in emergency housing through toughening the entry criteria.
But he has yet to make the document public, saying he is still seeking official advice on its contents, although he has acknowledged anecdotal evidence pointed to a rising trend.
…the ‘official advice’ that he is seeking from ‘official’s is, ‘how the fuck do you change these homelessness figures’.
For a year now, we on the Left have been arguing that National’s new thresholds for Emergency Housing, alongside a new clause where the state refuses to work with a homeless person who they deem to have lost housing because of their own fault, has all resulted in an explosion of homelessness that hasn’t been seen before.
What Tama has in the report is proof positive that these criticisms were legitimate and right and that all National have done is exploded homelessness.
What we are seeing now is the results of this right wing Government’s angry, ill thought out election rhetoric and the way the Government is responding to this bitter harvest of social policy failure is to hide the results.
Revenge fantasy social policy that makes the problem far worse and then hiding the results of that so that you the sleepy hobbits don’t wake up.

As a Christian I’m offended the minister looked down the barrel of the camera and lied. Made worse by the gall of the man to wear a cross on his lapel, whilst he would do nothing to up lift the poor. Indeed is inaction was making it worse.
Christians, need to vote for a party which actually represents Christian values and principles. And at present the only party doing that, is Te Pāti Māori.
There’s nothing Christian about them. They are heathens. Cruel, vindictive, secretive and lying, greedy and ruthless. They talk themselves up before elections and that’s the last we hear of those grandiose plans.
They pat themselves on the back for miniscule ‘improvements’ and seize credit for anything that is successful while failing to acknowledge the contribution of others whose work made it happen.
As individuals they are appalling examples of humankind. Most of us wouldn’t want to meet them, our skin would crawl if we had to shake hands with them.

Why would they publicise the outcome of a rehashed policy known to be a proven failure? It’d be embarrassing, and governments don’t like being embarrassed. This isn’t about outcomes though. It’s about blindly following a failed ideology. And as Luxon himself quite clearly stated, he doesn’t care if it doesn’t work. It’s what the baying hounds of NACT’s donor base wanted — more bloody gobbets of red meat for the palsied old spite-buckets who rail against unsavoury brown folk on talkback radio. If you punch the poor and disenfranchised hard enough, and often enough, they’ll sort themselves out and all will be unicorns and sunshine in our neoliberal utopia. That’s the theory anyway.
In other news, Tama Potaka seems to be discovering the magical notion of “cause and effect”. Chucking people out of emergency housing, or making it borderline impossible to access, results in people sleeping in parks, doorways, bus shelters and vehicles. (But hey, as long as the ‘number of people in emergency housing’ figures look good, who cares what happens to the unfortunate wretches who didn’t make the cut and end up freezing to death in a hedge?) No doubt his next startling revelation will be that water is wet and trees are made of wood.
This government has all the human warmth of a glacier.
I do not understand how people can say Military Boot Camps do not achieve their object.
I have done military training and much of it consists of making your bed the exact way a shouty person says it must be made (otherwise the world will end).
Also polishing your boots to the degree that a shouty person says boots must be polished in order that the foundations of civilisation do not collapse.
Also in shaving your face(if you are male) so that shouty person can complain if you missed a couple of hairs because this will defeat and confound the King’s enemies.
Then marching up and down in time with others while a shouty person shouts a lot that is frankly incomprehensible but presumably necessary for the peace and security of the realm.
None of this is designed to make people more law-abiding, change their character or in anyway better people. It is mainly so that shouty people can have things to shout about.
Unwell people don’t make well decisions. Since many homeless or potentially homeless have underlying mental health issues its not surprising that punitive polices have negative outcomes. National gives the appearance of a group of like minded people educated well past their level of intelligence. They needed to tighten up eligibility as they were going to trash the social housing builds underway and sell off the land. This meant there were never going to be enough social houses to meet demand. With one of our last manufacturers of cardboard boxes closing down and places under bridges in short supply, of course this was going to increase homelessness. Only hope is that the growing exodus of NZers will allow supply to meet demand.
The right have always fudged the numbers, it’s what they do.

Potaka is another bible bashing lying anti Maori ,Maori ,trying to please his white masters ,
One only needs to look at Tama Potaka to see how Plastic and Artificial even as a Maori that he truly is.
Like Lying Luxon, Seymour and so many others in this Diabolical Coalition government he has absolutely No Hesitation or Remorse when he lies.
The problem is the Gutless Mainstream NZ media Will NEVER EVER pull up such Poor Exuses of MPs like Potaka. And so the Farce Show will go on with National Lying Right, Left and Centre and Blaming Everyone Else But Themselves. The Media will Meekly and Spinelessly accept is said to them no questions asked.
I would so love to see Potaka thoroughly thrashed along with Luxon, Seymour, Peters, Simeon Brown, Gerry Brownlee, etc.etc.etc at whenever is the next election. All this lot has done since getting in is resorting to Divisive and Destructive Actions and try to Play NZers upon NZers.
