  1. We will certainly see, Lord Gareth. I don’t believe the 3% foreign buyers figure for a second. I believe the real figure, which was deliberately hidden by the National Govts. failure to collect proper statistics ,will have a more dramatic effect in the long term. A 10% tax on empty residential buildings, which have been “House Banked” by overseas investors in the past would be interesting!

    1. Colourful Gareth

So, you bag everyone but yourself as usual Gareth. Clearly you do not want new Zealanders to own houses. You are also pretending that Chinese have not bought lots of houses in NZ. Check with Barfoot.

You also seem to want untramelled immigration to continue – without infrastructure.

So it is all good that every foreigner can have any house they want in New Zealand.

What you are actually promoting is civil unrest.

The Answer to our Housing bungle – is to build many more houses. National built none. And I doubt you have built any either. You prefer to run soccer games and other trivia.

      1. You are making what is called a strawman argument, Observer Tokoroa.

As far as I’m aware TOP make none of the claims you assert above.

They are certainly disputing whether the foreign ownership ban will effectively address the housing crisis.

BTW I believe it a useful tool amongst a number of approaches that are required, but they are correct in that it is no cure all.
