  1. Good onya Matt.

Anyone in Labour with some class understanding, let alone actual class struggle experience, is valuable.

And, a Maori community leader-what’s not to like?

  2. Tane, would hopefully bring a grassroots focus to the party which seems to be unsure of its identity. I know a lot of people are wondering if they are going to deliver. Restoring wages and conditions is going to need policies driven by individuals who understand what is needed by working people in NZ today.

  3. Kelvin Davies is like a rabbit caught in head lights when interviewed he never seems prepared. It is a pity a Nation that has so many marvelous orators is represented by this man.

    1. When Maori are forced to chose between each other it’s been a complete disaster. Māori earn about half the salary of non Māori so there’s 10 years of solid growth just staring the government in the face. Growth foot soldiers can blow me.

  4. johkey was not a good orator Trevor yet he got 9 years now we have soimon and he ain’t exactly a good orator either. As people have said he barks at all passing cars and his bark is piercing and annoying and not pleasant to ones ear so one switches of. ps. bring on Tane Phillips

  5. I am a bit worried about our Maori whanau in Labour I voted for Meka Whaitiri and I am wondering is she still alive and when is she going to get a second chance she won her electorate and she deserves to have her portfolio handed back asap.

  6. Matt I would love to hear your thoughts on the chances of the party membership actually taking over the party and getting rid of the neo-liberal individuals that rule the parliamentary wing. It’s happening in the UK because Corbyn got accidentally involved in the leadership battle but I’m not sure it’s possible to reclaim the Labour party here without building a parallel organisation outside the party first

    1. That’s an old one unfortunately, and the NZ Labour Party membership is basically subordinate to the Parliamentary Wing-Caucus & MPs-when they are in office.

When out of office the battle shifts more to candidate selection and the senior MPs make damn sure no authentic lefties “slip through the net”.
