The US public didn’t bring this on themselves, any more than the world asked for what Trump has heaped upon it, so far. As the world didn’t vote Trump into office, then it is clear that Trump is not a people-created problem. Trump is a product of the system.
The very same system, come election time, that eliminates anyone other than a sliver of handpicked souls that the system has worked out will best serve its interests, thus, leaving the voting process as being nothing more than one, big, political charade. Trump won the illusionary election process, the only thing to take out of that was just how unappealing the Dems made themselves (memo to Labour, you are equally unappealing today), but again, it would not have mattered had the Dems won the last election, we’d still be seeing, very, very similar shite today to what Trump has foisted upon the world.
The problem is the system and this problem is still monumental in scale, because most of us, yes, most of us political junkies, let alone the political fly-by-nighters, still believe in the electoral process, still believe that its the choice of the other side of the political divide that has created the Trump’s of this world, and not the system itself that despite knowing everything about the guy, still served him up to the people anyway.
