  1. I don’t smoke the stuff but I fully support your article. This is yet another failure from this Blairite government.

  2. Great piece Chris. Nice to have such factual updates. Am watching the Cannabis industry development with interest and would support any action initiatives that the public can be involved in.

The close referendum result was most frustrating. As I get older I was hoping at least edibles would legal by now, along with full range of medicinal products.

My take is Labour did the bare minimum on the Referendum required by their arrangement with the Green Party. Andrew Little in particular has really proved hostile on this issue. An endorsement from the PM would likely have swung it, but she is risk averse at the best of times. And there was the deception by Family First in league with US based SAM, that enabled hundreds of thousands more dollars than allowed to be spent by the “NO” lobby as Russell Brown has pointed out. COVID did not help the momentum, or the split messaging from Drug Foundation and Make it Legal.

Strong lobbying of the Govt. is needed, and some community action to back it up.

  3. Yes this govt certainly has its head in the sand over this issue, The barriers to entry are huge and exclude local small growers. Good article.

  4. When doctors can hand out opioids like lollies to keep the population happy – why bother changing ah.

  5. Simple change the law to allow cbd oil with less than 0.5% thc to be classed as a dietary supplement, and if not taken then as a cosmetic product.
