  1. Ahem. The New Zealand Disability Support Network is making threats?

Along the lines of, “Pay us more or we’ll harm them.”?

Readers ought to be aware that the NZDSN is NOT an organisation that has as its sole purpose advocacy for disabled New Zealanders.

It is an organisation that is committed to ensuring that most of the government funding earmarked for various disability supports goes through it’s members’ bank accounts.

It is an organisation whose members have abused, neglected and in some tragic cases killed disabled New Zealanders, then has responded to negative publicity by claiming reports were a media beef up.

It is an organisation that has been quietly panicking since 2009 in case there is a greater roll out of Individulaised Funding (Personal Budgets) for disabled New Zealanders and as in the above press release assumes a somewhat paternalistic ‘we know best’ attitude when it looks like disabled New Zealanders might have greater autonomy.

Be wary, good folks reading TDB. The NZDSN is a lobby group for those businesses with their snouts firmly in the trough of government funding.

    1. So true. So very very true Rosemary

“NZDSN is calling on the Government to blah blah blah. This includes blah blah and more blah, and investing in the disability support workforce.”

Seriously? Increased funding will not be ‘investing in the disability support workforce’
