  1. Labour has had 6 years to convince me that they can run those country well but I am sorry to say they have failed in most areas.Health ,education ,transport ,cost of living all have gone backwards. I am not silly enough to think things will change much with National short term but less wasteful spending will improve the countries long term outlook

    1. Great comment and I agree completely . . the left were handed the tools and then flat out refused to do anything meaningful with them. All hat and no cowboy.

  2. Yes….and Luxon is already demonstrating that he would not be fit to run a country ….
His weak evasive answers as to why he can’t debate Chris Hipkins on Monday night at the Press leaders debate show all the signs of someone who has no qualms about having a dereliction of duty towards the people of NewZealand.

On both the Tv3 AM and TV1 Breakfast shows this morning he looked shifty, dodgy and dishonest…
That’s the ‘canary in the coalmine’ right there..

Thought he might be in Christchurch but wasn’t sure quite where…
Even though he definitely knew he couldn’t make the debate…

Who believes this shit!!!…apart from the delusional..

Of course the weak interviewers could have tied him in knots…but chose not to..

This straight out wilful dishonesty should set the alarm bells ringing loud and clear..

He is definitely running scared and/ or hiding something…

His deceptive manipulative arrogance is beyond palpable and deeply concerning!

  3. Whatever you do, don’t vote for the parties of Business As Usual, these are the parties of war and climate change.

’10 New Zealands’ of Antarctic ice lost in ‘alarming drop off a cliff’

Right now, Antarctica should be reaching peak ice – but the Southern Continent instead began to melt prematurely.
An emergency summit of scientists warned the record-low sea ice could affect New Zealand’s weather.
Niwa scientist Natalie Robinson said she worried for her children’s future….

    1. agree. the grow baby grow, growth at all costs cheerleaders are living in the 70’s. nothing is growing… it’s all depleting and it’ll be a spiral to the bottom if we all keep on with neoliberal BAU BS. $3 a litre petrol is hurting now. wait till its $5 or $10

    2. New Zealand can do nothing to stop the effects of climate change.
We are hostage to the big industrial polluters in the northern hemisphere.
Which is why all we can do is virtue signal.
Virtue signaling doth butter no parsnips.

  4. One reason only.

Force Labour and National to accept substantial tax reform is needed.

The status quo is no longer acceptable.

The Greens are flying because of their wealth tax debate they started in 2017.
63% of the population want it and Labour and National are not listening.

THE stuff.co.nz THE PRESS debate is now going to be between the Minor Parties .
Greens , Act , Nz 1st and Te pati Maori Tues 10th at 7.30pm and Broadcast/ live streamed at 7.30pm on stuff.co.nz.

Marama Davidson will be representing the Greens.

Chris Luxon has screwed up big time in my opinion.

The Press Debate is the big one two hours long and with all the free promotion it has had over Luxons refusal to play ball has added to its prestige.

  5. I never vote early, because things can change. For that reason, I always vote on election day.

  6. Free food at school sounds good but I would ask why would you have a policy that encourages people to have children they cannot feed and care for . I am all for a benefit scheme that helps people when thinks go wrong such as ill health accidents or job lose as this are out of people’s control but it seems wrong to make feeding children a right .

    1. Are you suggesting that only the wealthy can have a family?

If that’s the case who will be doing all the s..t jobs – you won’t find rich kids wanting to spend the rest of their lives living on basic pay.

      1. No I never said that .The majority are not rich in the except way but I suggest they have enough pay the bills and live a life that is not constantly under pressure so they can spare time a money to nurture the growth of their children

  7. I am not voting early–on the day at a local booth for me.

The point is that much may change yet…in terms of scandals (what did that hastily resigned Act President do?), policies (not too late for x, x, and x) and and political leadership changes and gaffes.

Workers have to be given time off by employers to vote also–stick it to the man by voting during working hours.

  8. The Act outlook includes the belief that people are responsible for their own actions and that Government shouldn’t provide “cradle-to-grave welfare”.
My pioneering forebears endured and built the modern New Zealand in the belief that they were building what they would have desired for their following descendants. Part of their wishes were:
“An old-age pension was first introduced in 1898 – New Zealand was among the first countries in the world to provide one. To be eligible men and women had to be over 60 and earn below a certain income.”
    Free Healthcare.
In 1938, the Social Security Act from the First Labour Government attempted to provide government funded healthcare to all. A free health system, with hospital and other health services universally available to all New Zealanders was the vision behind the Social Security Act 1938.
The Education Act 1877 (passed into law on 29 November) established free, compulsory and secular education for all Pākehā New Zealand children. (This Act did not apply to Māori children, but they could attend the free schools if their parents wanted them to.)
NOW this has become compromised. Tertiary education in New Zealand, from 1990 onwards—in simple terms—operates on a “user pays” basis. The student loans scheme was introduced to assist students with their fee payments, handicapping those from poor families with a debt to start their working life.
AND note NZ led the world on 19 September 1893 by becoming the first self-governing country in the world to enshrine in law the right for women to vote in parliamentary elections on 19 September 1893.
The USA gifter of the private plane for ACTS use for example , comes from a country, USA, that never ever come near to achieving these egalitarian principles.
When I see the Take us Back type slogans this is where I want us to be taken back to.

  9. In summary, the left will always govern for ALL New Zealanders. How? They will govern to improve the outlook for those of the lowest socio economic through to the wealthy who although may not be affected by Labour policies will remain wealthy.
The right bloc however govern at the top end, the very wealthy, where they believe the wealth will trickle down and therefore there is little interest in creating policies for middle and lower income earners.
Whilst a few here have condemned Labour and labelled them as failures, the reality is, that is so far from the truth. They have governed for all NZ, it is only the right wing media and wealthy supporters who are complaining particularly on this site, who feel their wealth has been impacted by a Labour government.
Sadly it looks like the impact of powerful lobbyists will return us back to a National government where the sole belief is to support the wealthy and it will trickle down to everyone. That has been proven to be a false ideology.

    1. Gus if Labour had done such a great job of looking after the not wealthy they would not be in danger of being deposed. In this society the rich and poor both have 2 votes and they have equal worth. As a Labour supporter you need ask why they are on the back foot.

      1. Seriously Trevor, I do struggle at times with people’s comprehension. Go back and re-read my comment and you will see the explanation as to why Labour are on the back foot. I can only assume you read my whole comment?

  10. I’ll vote either Thursday or Friday next week since I have work on election day (part time worker so I prob don’t qualify for time off to vote since I can do it early)

  11. Labour sucked so bad everyone will vote Nat/Act. As if it not planned . AS IF-…We see you.

  12. Sure Martyn, happy to wait a week to vote ACT from overseas, doing my bit to cancel out at least one left voter.

  13. I got Kids Bro! I vote early so I can wrangle those monsters when my missus votes. Frankly Luxon and Seymore could eat a child alive on TV and I’d still spite vote for them. The adherence to social justice by the left has left me cast adrift. If the state has to burn to teach those retards a lesson…. So be it

  14. I voted early and am entirely happy with my vote as it signifies my contentedness with the state & stability of our nation
