Dear Auckland, you are going to have to forgive Jacinda and Labour at some stage for Covid lockdown

If Labour want to win back Auckland they are going to need to celebrate , thank and say sorry to Auckland.

That last Covid lockdown was so painful for many Aucklanders.

It gets lost in the anger that Auckland should be celebrated and thanked for our stamina during that last lockdown BECAUSE REMEMBER WHY WE WENT INTO THAT SECOND LOCKDOWN!

Auckland went into that second lockdown so that the rest of the country could get their immunisation rates up.

Auckland took the strain while the rest of the country rushed to get immunised.

Auckland should be thanked and celebrated for its collective sacrifice for the good of the nation and Labour should apologise, celebrate and thank Auckland with policy that recognises that sacrifice.

But also, Auckland needs to actually forgive Jacinda as well.

Right now there are 1000 children at risk who are not being protected by Oranga Tamariki…

…this is policy cruelty so National can protect their landed gentry voters over the poor and it is as gruesomely callous as that.

Are you so bitter at Jacinda to believe these culture war revenge fantasies masquerading as social policy to eclipse the truth the Right are deregulating the common good for their donors interests is preferable?

Are you really going to live on your knees for corporate interests?

This is the vision ACT have for Auckland, a privatised Death Star hanging over our city…

…Aucklanders are better than this.

  3. It’s a small pathetic minority that hold Jacinda Ardern in contempt, they are never going to grow up and their naivety is bound to continue until they leave this mortal coil. The rest of us ordinary and willing to be informed voters must press on and rid this country of the worst and most useless, damaging govt in half a century.

    1. I bet you’d have the opposite opinion if a National PM had behaved like Ardern. I wouldn’t though.

      1. Please explain what you mean by Ardern’s “behaviour”? If by behaviour you mean wanting to save peoples lives, then I agree her behaviour was selfish.

  4. Labours problem isn’t so much Jacinda as it is their failure to offer much difference to the current lot

    1. The difference in health is massive and that’s enough for me.

      1. While health and the economy will be the downfall of National, you can be sure Labour will largely disappoint in those areas as well.

        What have they committed to in health that has you sold?

        1. Not running it into the ground on purpose so they can privatise it.

          1. Yet, Labour supports PPPs. and have confirmed they wont be rushing in to undo everything National has introduced.

            So how did you come to that conclusion?

  5. Labour is far bigger and more complex than one dreadful former leader. If Hipkins produces some decent policy and can keep the Māori Party out of power, mainstream NZ will vote for him. If the majority is large, there’s the added bonus of keeping out the fake greens.
