• Jones argues the proposal contradicts NZ First’s coalition agreement with National, opposing co-governance of public services.
• Act leader David Seymour also opposes the plan, advocating for democratic management of the ranges.

Why are we allowing banjo twanging redneck culture warrior Edge Lords like Shane and David inject their nasty divisiveness into Auckland?

This is just another wilful misinterpretation of legal rights as race rights for Shane and David to attempt to once again exploit!

Auckland Council, the Crown and the nominated iwi entered into a Deed of Acknowledgement 17 years ago to begin work on a joint committee that has equal representation from Auckland Council, the Crown and local tangata whenua!

Trying to desperately paint this very pragmatic local solution out as apartheid for NZFs and ACTs culture war is ugly politics!

The rise of Australia’s climate-friendly Teals at the expense of National’s sister party, the Liberals, should be a warning to any party that doesn’t take climate change seriously. National has avoided a Teal problem thus far. It may not avoid it forever.

National won Auckland in 2023 in large part because Labour’s Covid policy turned the Super City into the world’s largest open-air prison. That memory will fade. The party can’t rely on the memory of Covid to win the city in future elections.

The Auckland-centric electoral calculus that saw National slowly abandon farmers might have been cruel, but it wasn’t wrong. Say what you want about the Key and English government, it never polled as low as this one.

…I would argue the Right face the same problem trying to force their racist culture war talking points down Auckland’s throats.
