It is good that the movie gets respect and that Native Americans are shown in a light that goes beyond the whitewashed history America clings to. The genocide, lies, murder and butchery committed against the first nation of America is still a crime the US has never paid for.

In all but name it is a foreign spy base on NZ soil, paid for with hundreds of millions of our tax dollars; it spies on Kiwis and foreigners; it is NZ’s key contribution to America’s global spying & war machine. Waihopai must be closed.
If you live near or in Auckland – or are pissed off enough to travel a bit – the TPPA Don’t Sign campaign will kick off with a public meeting at the Auckland Town Hall on Tuesday 26 January at 7pm.
Radical self-love gurus do not tend to promote or even really engage in discussions on privilege or the disadvantages people are born into; that shit would undermine the cause of “changing yourself, not the system.”
The Guerrilla Girls, an all-female anonymous feminist artist collective, were invited to form part of an exhibition at the Galerie Perrotin in Paris called G I R L S, curated by pop singer Pharrell himself which opened on Tuesday. The show claims to “celebrate women who are above all free, liberated by artists and their boundless, unfettered imagination”.
I am not saying white people should not make work about other cultures that happen to be brown, what I am saying is there needs to be some moral accountability if you do.
We need less men declaring their allegiance to feminism and more men unpacking patriarchy and challenging toxic modes of masculinity.
Divergent follows a pretty generic formula and it is a shame the director Neil Burger (Limitless) made the decision to leave out some of the darker parts of the book.
