The Greens are sick of being seen as a puppet for Labour and are desperate to show some independence, but was this by-election the best way to do that?
This isn’t a media holding power to account, this is competitive malice.
We all suspected the Waiheke Ferry Supergold Card scam was bad, but I don’t think anyone knew it was this bad.

NZ requires an Opposition that will hold the Government to account, what we have however is a Party wilfully happy to manipulate and lie to generate divisive anger in their supporters.
We can’t outspend China, but we can play a far smarter game.
Getting tangled up in making it compulsory is missing the opportunity to progress while requiring focus on the structural racism that blights NZ.
The real reason National are now starting to signal they will dump ACT however isn’t because of a sudden realisation that the deal isn’t working, it’s that National want to try it out elsewhere.
