Willis took $2.4 billion from disaster relief fund for general wasteful spending .Clearly that cash would be handy right now .I hope the landlords are loving the cash that could have paid for ferries ,a hospital or in this case a natural disaster which is what the $2.4 b was supposed to be used for .

  2. After a significant flood less than a decade ago, the local council choose to blame climate change to hide the fact that they didn’t bother to check the mud traps (drains). The last thing these bozos need is more money. A good firm boot up the backside however? That might help.

  3. Funnily enough, the wairarapa hasn’t had a decent flood since 2004 but boy I was a doozy
    We used to cop them all the time maybe now it’s just somewhere else that’s getting hit.

  4. Nathan and what about farmers do we have to keep bailing them out every time we have floods and droughts because they are the backbone of our country. The council are now being bullied by central government a government that claimed to support localism.

  5. Kraus the funding was for emergencies now it’s gone, given we are experiencing more environmental disasters isn’t it logical we have funds to help with recovery.
