It wouldn’t matter who cut down the trees. Basic management of assets demands risk assessments. If anything, the trees being removed would mean more eyes and response protocols would be set in place to activate in certain conditions. Those protocols did not activate, or even exist. As I understand it, it was the responsibility of the council to issue warnings. Somewhere else I was reading it was “too soon” to be talking about why this happened. I think not. In a larger environment where everything competent is rejected and responsibility constantly abdicated, it doesn’t matter when anyone says anything because nothing changes. It could happen again next week, or next month, and still no change in response. The culture of laziness and stupid is too well imbedded to be able to blame anyone specifically. All we know is we are officially lazy and stupid, such things have consequences, and we should immediately move to correct that flaw.
