  1. Poverty shamming is also turning up on financial scores. Lowering the bottom halves access to personal loans, and mortgages and so on. So on one part people don’t care because they’re to poor and to hungry to care, and every one else is getting cheap access to loans so they really don’t care what GCSB or SIS are up to. But this apathy can not be maintained. Climate change threatens a permanent 20% reduction in the GDP, once people start seeing there old jobs disappearing, then they’ll care.

      1. Thing is intel community didn’t see the fall communism coming which in my opinion is a contributing factor for why post Cold War policy totally collapsed in to Cold War 2 between China and America.

Plus successive financial collapse that no one forcast like every other fortune teller. So they’re not defending the economy one bit. Honestly how on earth could they have cleared top secret a smuck like John Key.

        1. He was put there for a purpose which he achieved.

A well trained con man, fundamentally grossly dishonest..

          Hand picked by Alan Greenspan.

He worked for them not Kiwis.

  2. You Go Suzie, we are indeed watching and listening too all this Deep State Activity, proceed with extreme caution…They are Legion

  3. “They are instead regular citizens – activists, journalists, dissident academics, researchers, or as we now know even earthquake victims and child abuse survivors.”

From the start, I’ve thought that, if Anne-Marie Brady were being targeted in the manner she claims, it would be NZ security services doing that, rather than the Chinese. This sort of clumsy harassment has been reported before, and then it was SIS or GCSB. Forget which….

Interesting to note that the level of contemporary surveillance of ordinary citizens to which Dawson draws attention is – apart from technological advances in the intervening years – broadly similar to what we were told many years ago was happening in Iron Curtain countries. Which, of course, weren’t democracies and didn’t allow freedom of thought and action. Unlike our own countries: bastions of democracy and freedom!

  4. Let’s hope the present coalition can clean this mess up and turn away from the Slavery First, New Zealand Second MO of the Nats

  5. It really makes you wonder who the Spooks are in New Zealand and who they are actually working for ?

Are they working for the good of New Zealand or for some other Dark Forces ?

Does Jacinda and Winston really know what is going on in the Spy World in New Zealand ?

  6. WOW, what an interesting post here! We know, that is some of us, that the NZ MSM is part of the very establishment that keeps most of all these lies and the treachery hidden, that happen in government, especially the Deep State and intelligence agencies doing the dirty work. We have signed up fully to the Five Eyes, are a member state, have a subservient role in working with the US, so nothing surprises me much, what is written here.

The sheeples, that are the bulk of the NZ Inc population, they are lazy minded, brain washed to the extreme, constantly distracted by misinformation, propaganda and mostly commercial advertising brainwashing, their prime concern is to be a happy consumer of goods and services, offered on a market, where morals play no real role.

So we trade with countries that murder a journalist in their embassy, we trade with the mighty USA and others, using drones that kill not only ‘terrorist’ targets, but civilians as ‘collateral damage’.

We are collaborating as a country, under whatever government, with liars, murderers, and other criminals, and pretend we are 100 percent pure, clean and green and have a moral high ground, supposedly one of the ‘least corrupt nations’ on this planet.

All that window dressing and whitewashing is endless BS though, corruption, lies, manipulation and old boys and old girls network practices are common here, as in many other places. We are one nation of the highest CO2 emitters in the world, we talk a lot, but do damned little, and nobody dares challenging the status quo, where we are under constant surveillance, in one way or another, much info simply passed on to the US NSA and other agencies, true or not true.

At times I hate living in this place, where so many are mere idiots, they never dare question what goes on, they simply accept all the BS and even defend it. ‘Nothing to hide’, is their argument, so if you are watched and spied on, they suggest, you must be dishonest and up to no good.

Screw those people they need a real shake up those cowards.

One of the greatest joke this country has is the so called Privacy Act and the useless Privacy Commissioner, who usually does sweet f***ing all, should anyone raise an issue. The law they operate under are like a Swiss Cheese, full of huge holes, you can drive many trucks through them.

And screw the MSM, looks matters more than brain, I note, watching TV news and listening to the radio at times. Useless morons, that would be a compliment to that lot.

    1. Jacinda will do as she is told like they all do with few exceptions.

Minor changes get by but some things politicians cannot go near or publicly discuss.

  7. Zip, Zilich, naadaa, nuthin its her mob that invented this crapola, carefully groomed to be a smiley,Deep state drone, go back too sleep and obey furry little hobbits or theyll kick down your door, go though your undie draw and expose your stains for the world to see, welcome to the brave new world, Land of the Fee, Home of the wage slave, anyone remember voteing for this shite?

  8. I tried reading Nicky Hager’s book when I was a kid about Waihopai (this was when I was in high school and games like Command and Conquer and Civilization were opening our eyes in a fictional way to intelligence. I did not get very far, but it made me aware of in a very basic way that we were playing host to the military assets of an alliance that claims to be good for the world, but more and more I am realizing they are only good for themselves.

I actually have no problems with having intelligence apparatus. But it needs to be run by New Zealanders, for New Zealand and nobody but New Zealand.

    That is not happening.

But if we shut down these two bases, how easily could we establish a purpose built network specific to our needs and intelligence environment?

  9. Lord help as all. Intelligence agencies might have a habit of becoming clandestine, the kind of clandestine that hinders them from remembering they actually for the citizenry of their respective countries.

  10. It’s nice to know how it works, better to be able to use it.

There’s alot going on there, a good read.

    Well Done.

  11. Great work Suzie. I’ve also read your “person of interest” previously, felt v sorry for you. This is a particularly coherent, pointed, well -ourced piece.

  12. What are the implications for New Zealand and for our intelligence services, as the US sinks in to totalitarianism under Donald Trump?

Will our intelligence services meekly follow the US down that very dark rabbit hole?

Will our intelligence services, so closely tied to the US security and intelligence services, start directly working against our government and people?

Will this circumstance throw up our own home grown Edward Snowden, or Snowdens, with the courage to speak up, and expose enemies to our democracy?
