  1. Auckland City Mission is facing the highest ever demand for food in its 99-year history and is struggling to prepare for the impending arrival of Christmas.

Therefore, along with the urgent action being called for above (in the joint press conference) I suggest the Government should also consider issuing a one off substantial Christmas bonus to all beneficiaries to help counter the impending Christmas surge of demand.

This will not only help out those struggling but will also add to the Governments narrative when questioned on this growing surge by the media. And of course, when attacked by the opposition re well-being and their failure to deliver. Moreover, it would help build the Government’s credibility for the 20/20 election.

  2. Good to see continued calls for implementation of all of the WEAG’s recommendations. We can’t let those recommondeations be forgotten.

  3. While Jacinda stands on the World stage and poses with the rich and powerful the people that voted her in get poorer . Chch mission has bare shelves and I understand Auckland is the same . I am usally a National voter but I was not unhappy to see Labour given a chance as they talked a good news story for those that had fallen through the cracks over the years. Apart from mental health and agreeing to paying teachers better I do not see any major improvement in the lives of the poor .

  4. Taking a petition to the PM’s electoral office when the PM is currently out of the country was extremely badly timed.

It wasted the media spotlight being shone on this, allowing the PM (as she isn’t in the country) having to comment on this important issue.

Furthermore, with recent revelations, how can we be sure her officials will even inform of this petition?

  5. Looking at Jacinda’s facebook page there is no acknowledgement of the petition or the joint press conference.
